You will go through the exhibition which has excellent, multi sensory interactive displays and superbly created visuals. The tour takes you back in time to the late 1800’s when the top secret recipe, which has remained the same to this day, was first created and sold in Philip Harrington’s butchers, and what life was like in Clonakilty at that time. You’ll then learn how the Twomey family develope

d it into the household name it is today. Watch from the viewing gallery as production occurs in the working factory and then finish up tasting some of the award winning products in the cafe.

The Clonakilty Blackpudding Visitor Centre will be closed next Tuesday, 17th March for St. Patrick’s Day.

We will be open on Monday 16th March and back open as usual on Wednesday 18th March.

Did you know that Clonakilty was a thriving market town in the late 19th century, boasting over 40 pubs and 30 grocers?

One of its most notable businesses was Spiller & Co, a catch-all emporium that sold everything from hardware and linen to confectionery and household items. It is also where Philip Harrington and Johanna O'Brien sourced the distinctive spices that went into the now famous Clonakilty Blackpudding.

This secret blend of spices remains the same to this day!
