A seaweed pressing workshop with Farriage is just one of the seaweed-themed events in this year's Ellen Hutchins Festival (16th-24th August).

Join Orla and Armand Heron Gallery Café and Gardens as they offer you the opportunity to create your own piece of art with real seaweed. You will learn how to recognise seaweed, how to prepare it for the pressing and about all the care it will need to turn it into a beautiful and unique piece.

Foraging is done in the morning for the workshop but if you cannot make it to the foraging we will prepare some seaweed in advance.

A round of applause please for the incredibly talented Karen Hamill who has surpassed herself this year with her illustration for the colouring competition. The slogan, along with the centre image, references Ahakista Memorial. Food for thought and an opportunity for the young and the, eh, mature amongst us to get the colouring tools out and turn it into a work of art. Age categories are: 4 - 7 years; 8 - 12 years and 13 - 99. Copies of the drawing are available in The Heron Gallery from tomorrow (Tuesday 14th) and the closing date for entries is Sunday, 3rd August. Winners will be announced at the Family Fun Day at the Tin Pub.
