Margo Banks new exhibition, ‘Wild At Heart’, gives us the creatures we know but seldom see: a fox in the undergrowth, hares scattering, bees humming.

Her marks are quick and wonderfully alive. Orange flickers through the fox. A blue vein runs through hares. Banks leaves space around her animals, as though they might move beyond the edge at any moment. There is humour in this work, and tenderness too.

‘Wild at Heart’, a new exhibition by artist Margo Banks, opens at 2.30pm on Saturday 24th October in the Greenland Gallery in Di**le.

Banks is an assured and accomplished draughtsperson, painter and sculptor, and we are delighted to showcase her new work here in the gallery this Autumn.

In this exhibition, Margo tells the many stories of her mother’s birthplace, her childhood, her land and its rich folklore tales. Her drawings are the remembrance and the expression of these stories, and Banks returns to her mothers place in Kerry often, to sketch and walk the fields.

’Wild At Heart’ opens on Saturday, October 24th at 2:30 pm and runs until November 23rd, 2026. Call into us in the Greenlane Gallery in Di**le, or preview Margo’s exhibition on our website, www.greenlanegallery.com.

The Three Sisters, An Triúr Deirféar, an oil painting by Michael Flaherty; one of the pieces in his current exhibition, The Western Edge, A tImeall Iartharach, in the Greenlane Gallery in Di**le.

Michael’s artistic response to this iconic rocky outcrop, when filtered through his imagination, results in a more intense landscape painting, where colours are heightened and the sense of movement more vital.

Michael Flaherty is a painter living on the Di**le peninsula. His growing knowledge and appreciation of the landscape around him, his home, has deepened his sense of engagement not with place per se but with the structure of the landscape.

In his latest exhibition, ‘An TImeall Iartharach – The Western Edge’, he captures the ever changing landscape of Corca Dhuibhne. In this particular painting, ‘Overhang’, Michael‘s mastery of oils perfectly captures the landscape around him, a moment in time, but timeless, the movement of water, the passing of clouds, the seasonal changes of the mountains, and the trees which fill our view.

Michael’s current exhibition, ‘An Timeall Iartharach – The Western Edge’, runs until October 18th here in the Greenlane Gallery, so there is still time to pop in and see his latest work. His impasto style of painting masterfully captures the vibrant changing landscape across the Di**le Peninsula.

Inspired by the wild landscapes of the west coast, Michael’s paintings are full of movement, colour and emotion - capturing the raw energy of the Atlantic and the Di**le Peninsula

Pop into view our newest exhibtion “An Timeall Iartharach – The Western Edge”, new paintings by renowned local artist Michael O’Flaherty.

The exhibition will run until the 18th of October, and we highly recommend a visit. While Michaels work is ”… influenced by the expressionists, he doesn’t subscribe to their movement but empathises with their style. The apocalyptic power of nature in his unpopulated landscapes evokes memories of Emil Nolde but he is doing it in a highly personal style and indeed like the German expressionists his “pictures have a kind of frenetic emotional intensity…”

A must see of Irish art this September.

We are getting ready and excited for the opening of Michael O’Flaherty’s new exhibition ‘An Timeall Iartharach – The Western Edge’, here at the Greenlane Gallery in Di**le.

Opening at 6pm on the 18th of September, the exhibition will run until the 18th of October, and is well worth seeing in person.

Born in Cloghane, Co. Kerry, Michael Flaherty’s true vocation to painting came out of curiosity. After college he took a year out and lived in Inniscarra, and came to drawing almost out of boredom. He states that he basically found a pencil, “I thought this was it – it was like discovering language”. Furthering his art education through the teachings of John Burke in Cork, and John O’Leary in Sligo. It was there, at the Sligo School of Art, that he found his style. He eventually returned to Kerry, to his home in Cloghane, and evolved this style until it was personal to him.

Michaels new exhibition of oil paintings, ‘An TImeall Iartharach - The Western Edge’, explores further the beautiful landscape of his home in West Kerry. It opens here in the Greenlane Gallery in Di**le, at 6pm on Friday, 18th of September and runs until Sunday 18th October 2026.
