Our steam locomotive Nancy will be in steam this coming Sunday 31st May.

Come along for a journey through time along an original stretch of the narrow gauge Cavan and Leitrim Railway.

No need to book in advance, just turn up between our opening hours 13:00 to 16:30. Train tours run on demand.

On Wednesday at the Cavan and Leitrim Railway we had a visit from 30 members of the Merseyside Bus Club, who arrived on a preserved 1984 Ulsterbus Leyland Tiger.

They have visited us a number of times over the years, this time the sun shined for them, Philip was delighted to be their tour guide, they had a trip on our narrow gauge train, a tour of our museum, and then had time to examine our collection of trains, aeroplanes, buses, fire engines, armoured car, submarine etc.

After their bus journey, they had the opportunity to burn off excess energy on our pump trolley and rail inspection bicycle, great fun, hopefully we will see them again in the future.

A lovely message from our own Philip Bedford on the tour he gave yesterday:

Yesterday, I was delighted to welcome a group from Ballymote Daycare Centre to the Cavan and Leitrim Railway, they arrived on the mainline Irish Rail train and enjoyed dinner in the nearby "Copper Still" pub before visiting us, I was the tour guide for their trip on the narrow gauge railway and a tour of the museum, they were a wonderful group to interact with, lovely people enjoying a day out, a real pleasure to interact with, I hope they enjoyed themselves as much as I did.

Our steam loco Nancy will be in steam this coming bank holiday Sunday May 3rd.

No need to book just turn up during our opening times between 13:00 and 16:30.

Thank you to our comrades at Táilte Tours for sharing our project to restore an original Tralee and Di**le Railway carriage.

We have progressed the restoration to the halfway mark with fully restored chassis and bogies, we now need funding to complete the body.

Fancy travelling in an original-spec Tralee & Di**le Railway carriage? Our friends in the Cavan and Leitrim Railway have an exciting project to recreate that very experience. This week we made a donation towards this project using money raised from the sale of our Cavan & Leitrim locomotive badges.

Carriage 7T is currently in the UK for a rebuild. Already, the chassis is fully restored, as are two pairs of T&D bogies also fully restored. The next major phase for this project is the body, and further donations are needed.
