The museum staff spent a day out reconnecting with Ireland’s ancient past and also testing our hill climbing skills it’s seems…

- We left the museum and headed for the Hill of Ward near Trim, one of the birthplaces of Halloween linked to the goddess Tlachta.

- We got back on the bus to the Hill of Tara, then on to the Newgrange Visitor Centre to explore the exhibition before taking the shuttle to Knowth.

- We saw the incredible carved kerbstones, watched a film on the archaeology and engineering behind these ancient monuments, and learned about the restoration work that brought them back to life.

A very successful day of myths, history, and lots of bus snacks.

Under the cover of night, lovers meet.

Carrying only what they need, they steal away from their homes.

They will be together no matter what their families or friends say.

Impulsive.

Clandestine.

Romantic.

Perhaps…

Not always.

We are currently offering a Training Course on the use of storytelling in youth work and informal education and a Workshop aimed at young adults (16+) with the aim of promoting Critical Thinking and Tolerance.

The Training Course is aimed at individuals who are actively involved in education and/or work with young people who wish to expand their skills base. Participants will be taught storytelling skills and techniques and gain new insights on how to incorporate stories into their work with youth and promote critical thinking, an open and perceptive view towards differences and otherness in society.

The Workshop is aimed at young adults with an interest in traditional storytelling. Participants will learn to analyse various forms of stories (from traditional folktales to personal life stories) from the perspective of stereotypes and prejudices. They will become acquainted with storytelling techniques, such as voice work, facial expressions, gestures, and the use of emotions in a story and how to identify hidden meanings and messages in stories and critically evaluate their impact on social perception.

Both the Training Course and the Workshop will be held at The Lab on Foley Street in Dublin City Centre and as they are co-funded by Eramus + and the European Union, both the Training Course and Two-part workshop are offered completely free of charge! All we ask for is your time and engagement.

Spaces are limited as there is a limit of 20 spaces for both the training course and for the youth workshop, so please email early to avoid disappointment and book your place.

To book a space on the workshops please email [email protected] !
