Today being National Dog Day I'd like to share this recent painting of a German Shepherd.

With eyes of brown and ears upright
His coat of black and tan so bright
A loyal companion and guardian too
My German Shepherd strong and true

There where the racecourse is
Delight makes all of the one mind
The riders upon the swift horses
The field that closes in behind.

In the hush of eventide, the sky,
a canvas of fading golds and deepening blues,
embraces the remnants of daylight,
each colour sighing a soft farewell.

Trees stand sentinel,
their branches weaving stories
into the twilight,
each rustle a secret kept,
each leaf
a moment slipping away.

In the delicate balance
where day meets night,
The light, dying softly, gently,
as the sun dips low.

In verdant fields where shadows play,
The horses graze in light of day.
Their graceful heads now bowed in grass,
Chewing through time as moments pass.

As we enter a new beginning I was reminded of the nine requisites for contented living by
JOHANN WOLFGANG VON GOETHE

Health enough to make work a pleasure.
Wealth enough to support your needs.
Strength to battle with difficulties and overcome them.
Grace enough to confess your sins and forsake them.
Patience enough to toil until some good is accomplished.
Charity enough to see some good in your neighbor.
Love enough to move you to be useful and helpful to others.
Faith enough to make real the things of God.
Hope enough to remove all anxious fears concerning the future."

Happy New Year to all and many thanks for all your support this past year

Within the heart of this wooded solitude,
Where greens and purples laugh and dance,
Catching the stare of untamed beauty,
It’s silent call a precious gift…
