Inishowen Maritime Museum

Inishowen Maritime Museum Inishowen Maritime Museum is located in the old coastguard station, Greencastle, Co. Donegal

The Inishowen Maritime Museum was opened in 1994; the initiative to produce a Maritime Museum provided a common grounding for the community of Inishowen to come together rather than individually housing the parts of the community’s historic maritime memorabilia. The establishment and continued growth and investment of our company over the last two decades have enabled us to conserve our strong mar

itime background, built through a common historical interest in our area. The services and activities we provide are as diverse as our users, from a maritime museum, planetarium, nautical gift shop & cafe to hosting temporary exhibitions, concerts and fairs. The museum continues to grow and develop exhibitions/projects to promote our heritage through tourism, membership and social networks.

The board and staff of the Maritime Museum wish to extend our sincere condolences to our colleague, Mary, on the death of her husband, Frank, who died yesterday, after a long illness, bravely borne by both.
Frank was a talented carpenter and was a volunteer in the museum, where his carpentry skills can be seen in use today, particularly, in the suite of display cabinets he built to host artefacts from La Trinidad Valencera, on loan from the Ulster Museum.
