🏗️ A new chapter in the story of the Tholsel is taking shape.

As restoration works continue, more of this remarkable building is beginning to reappear, revealing the care and craftsmanship being invested in preserving one of Kilkenny's most important historic landmarks.

From the restored roofline and clock tower to major accessibility improvements throughout the building, every stage of the project is helping prepare the Tholsel for a new future while respecting its rich past.

We look forward to sharing more updates as work progresses on what will become a key part of the future Museum of Medieval Kilkenny (MOMK).

16 June marks the anniversary of the 1609 Charter of Kilkenny, granted during the reign of King James I, recognising the city’s civic importance and helping shape Kilkenny’s governance and identity for generations to come.
