Artist of the Month for October: Karen Wilson.
We’re delighted to welcome gallery artist Karen Wilson as our Artist of the Month. Karen paints with a palette knife in thick, buttery oils. Wildflower meadows, foxgloves and cottage still lifes, all handled with colour that feels freshly picked.
On the wall this month: a poppy meadow under a darkening sky, a jug of garden flowers, and pink foxgloves rising through summer grass. These originals and more of Karen’s paintings are on view now at The Gallery.
Call in to see the texture up close, or enquire to reserve.

🎶 How much is that doggie in the window? 🎶 This distinguished gentleman by Karen Lightfoot has taken up residence in our window and he’s already turning heads (and starting a few sing-alongs).
Complete with his own little sign, a QR code, and that classic Patti Page tune floating around in everyone’s head… he’s the most charming window display we’ve had in a while.
Come say hello. He doesn’t wag, but he does look rather pleased with himself among the blossoms.

From Cork to a new home in India.
This painting of Cork by gallery artist Kate Beagan — looking across the River Lee toward the Marina Market — was commissioned for one of our international clients. He has since moved to India, and it now hangs in his new home.
He tells us he loves it. Every time he looks at it, it brings a piece of Cork into the room with him. Art has a quiet way of doing that — carrying place, memory, and feeling across continents and into everyday life.
That’s what we love seeing: a painting that doesn’t just decorate a wall, but stays with someone and continues to mean something 🥰

New in the gallery this week — a magnificent equine portrait by Karen Lightfoot.
The noble head of a horse painted with quiet intensity and exquisite realism against a rich, textured gold leaf. Light catches in the coat, the eye, and the gilded surface, giving the work a presence that feels both contemporary and timeless.
It arrives at a fitting moment as this week the streets of Tallow in County Waterford fill once again for the Tallow Horse Fair, held every year since 1904. Traders, families and horse people from across Ireland gather as they have for more than 120 years — an unofficial holiday for the town and a living thread in Munster’s equine tradition.
Lightfoot’s painting captures something of that same enduring regard for the horse: dignity, character, and beauty held still for a moment.
Now on view at The Gallery Kinsale.
Enquiries welcome.

We’re delighted to announce that Miriam Fitzgerald Juskova is our Featured Artist for September.
Known for her distinctive Paper on Edge works, Miriam creates three-dimensional wall pieces from hand-cut and folded paper. Drawing on traditional quilling together with her love of geometry and mathematics, she builds intricate patterns that have real depth, rhythm and movement — each piece the result of hours of precise cutting, folding and assembly.
Among the beautiful selection now in the gallery is this trio of hearts:
💛 Yellow Heart
❤️ Red Heart
💙 Blue Heart
From a distance they read as joyful, graphic hearts. Up close they reveal a world of tiny geometric forms standing on edge, catching the light and shifting as you move.
Come and see them in person at The Gallery Kinsale this month. Enquiries welcome.

New work by Ann Flynn ARSMA has arrived at the gallery ☀️🌊
Three original oils that do what Ann does best: catch the dazzle of Irish summer light on wet sand, water and sun-warmed skin. A child absorbed in the shallows. Two small figures heading for the sea with a yellow bucket. Another stooped over the sand, bucket in hand, as if the whole afternoon still lies ahead.
Ann paints those fleeting beach hours we all remember — the glow through a plastic bucket, the long shadows, the sparkle on the water — with lively brushwork and that contre-jour light that has become her signature. Recently elected Associate Member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists in London, she remains one of the artists collectors come to Kinsale to find.
Now on view at The Gallery Kinsale, Short Quay.
