It was a time when the 14,000 workers of Limerick city stood united - but alone - against the might of British power in Ireland. s regarded it as a source of potential revolution and they put the city under strict military control. It was a significant milestone in the evolution of the Irish War of Independence. The Soviet’s ultimate failure was the turning point that cleared the way for Sinn Féin and the IRA to dominate the Irish struggle for independence.
