🏮 SAMHAIN ROSCOMMON 2026 🔥
The Mórrígan Samhain Procession Returns!
We're delighted to announce that The Mórrígan Samhain Procession returns to the streets of Roscommon Town on Friday 30 October at 6pm
Rathcroghan, the ancient royal capital of Connacht, is one of Ireland's most important ceremonial landscapes and a place deeply associated with the origins of Samhain.
Drawing inspiration from its rich history, mythology and traditions, our procession celebrates this extraordinary heritage through creativity and community participation.
Join us for an atmospheric evening of lanterns, sculptural characters, drumming and fire performance as we mark the beginning of the darker half of the year.
This year, we're looking forward to introducing some new characters inspired by the mythology of Rathcroghan, alongside the lanterns created by local schoolchildren during our Samhain workshops.
🏮 PROCESSION ROUTE
📅 Friday 30 October 2026
🕕 6pm
The procession will gather at Roscommon County Council Offices, setting off at 6pm and making its way to Abbey Street, Church Street and Main Street, before finishing at Roscommon Town Square.
Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the celebrations! Fancy dress is encouraged, so wrap up warm and join us as we welcome the darker half of the year.
🌙 MORE SAMHAIN EVENTS
Alongside the procession, The Mórrígan Collective is creating Voices from the Cave, an atmospheric sound installation at Oweynagat (the Cave of the Cats), where voices drawn from ancient Irish literature will emerge from the darkness of the cave.
Our cultural partners at Rathcroghan Visitor Centre will also be offering special Samhain tours, exploring the ancient landscape and its connections to the festival.
Scan the QR code on our poster to visit the Rathcroghan Visitor Centre website for more information about Samhain events and activities.
We'll be sharing further details about Voices from the Cave, along with introductions to the community groups and people helping to bring this year's celebrations to life, over the coming days.

Presented by: The Mórrígan Collective
Cultural partner: Rathcroghan Visitor Centre
Funded by: Creative Ireland, Roscommon County Council and Samhain in the Heartlands
With thanks to Roscommon Town Team and Roscommon Chamber of Commerce for their support.
