“ There’s no back door to a sinking ship except the life-boat “ … no truer word! An original printed flyer for the annual life-boat collection, first organised in 1891 in Manchester, it became a popular fund raising event from then onwards. This flyer was printed in Aberystwyth, Wales, so the event was probably the local one, dating to around 1900, presented in a modern frame.

A lovely vintage painted wooden wall mounted plate rack, with slots for 14 plates, top shelf, and three useful rails at the bottom for hanging plate towels. Probably dating to the early / mid C.20th, it’s roughly painted in an attractive light buff green colour, very sturdy with notches worn or cut out at the top and base of the front spindles, probably to allow large plates to fit. The gap is 30cm, so good for larger sized plates.
