Today, families and visitors from across the country gathered at our national heritage site to take part in a unique pre-Passover tradition, a hand-baked Matzah workshop and then explored the historic underground factory blending the spirit of freedom with the history of our land sense of unity and hope.
May the Matzahs we baked today be a symbol of freedom, resilience, and better days ahead for all of us.

We were delighted to host today a remarkable group of 17-18 year-old students from the Golda Och Academy - Neshama Program.
These brave young adults arrived in Israel from New Jersey just three days before the war broke out. For the first time in their lives, they are experiencing sirens and the reality of running to bomb shelters. It is a surreal and challenging introduction to the country they love.
But their spirit is unbreakable.🇮🇱
Instead of letting fear take over, they are choosing resilience. From meaningful visits to Ayalon Institute to various resilience-building activities across the country, these students are showing us what "Neshama" (Soul) truly means. They are learning first-hand that the Israeli spirit isn't just about surviving—it's about staying strong together.
We are so proud of your courage and inspired by your strength. You are officially part of our family now. 💙🤍

Heritage on the Go: Bringing History to the Heart of the Community! The Ayalon Institute Museum team took the show on the road to meet the wonderful seniors of Mazkeret Batya!
Since the community couldn't come to the museum, we brought the museum to them. Our session which was held in a bomb shelter, featured a moving film about the secret underground ammunition factory and an inspiring lecture on the bravery and resilience of the young pioneers who built our state.

History doesn’t just repeat itself in Israel; it echoes through the generations. From the underground bullet factory of Ayalon Institute during the War of Independence (1948) to the safe rooms of the "Lion’s Roar" War (2026), the voices of our children are what keep us grounded.
Here are a few raw, beautiful glimpses into the hearts of Israeli mothers and children today as shared with us:

Guy Ros ( Age13) central of Israel, wrote a poem as a homework assignment about the war:

"The last few days were rough.
The missiles came at us like a raging bull.
The sun was a deep sea anglerfish, so black that you can't see it.
Siren shelter, siren shelter.

The siren roared across the city
While we were preparing our stuff.
The fear feels far and close in the same time."

AJ Cohen & Jaime SaraTova (a Bubbie of 4 soldiers with their mother) shared their touching experienced *Between the Sirens*. Press the link.https://acrobat.adobe.com/id/urn:aaid:sc:AP:85af1589-242f-415b-b7a3-5abaf736dc07

Even when the skies are tense, we find strength in our heritage. The Ayalon Institute stands as a testament to the fact that with innovation, courage, and unity, we can overcome any threat.
Wishing the entire House of Israel a quiet, safe, and peaceful Shabbat.🇮🇱
"The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace."

🇮🇱One Spirit, Two Eras: From the Secrets of Ayalon to the Frontlines of Today🇮🇱
In the heart of Rehovot, hidden deep underground, the Ayalon Institute once stood as a silent symbol of Jewish ingenuity and defiance.
✡️To our Fighting Hebrew Pioneers at Ayalon: We remember your silence. We remember your courage. The bullets you forged in the dark lit the way for a sovereign nation.
✡️To our warriors today, standing against the Iranian threat: You are the direct continuation of that same chain of bravery.
Whether you are intercepting missiles in the sky, operating in the shadows, or standing guard on the borders—you are the shield of Israel. Just as the pioneers of Ayalon refused to surrender to the impossible, you stand firm against those who seek our destruction.
The technology has changed. The enemies have grown. But the heart of the Israeli warrior remains exactly the same.
Israel will prevail, because we have no other home. 🇮🇱

Due to the current security situation and in accordance with Home Front Command, the Museum will be closed to visitors until further notice.
Our hearts are with the security forces, and we pray for the swift return of peace and safety.
We find hope in the words of Megillat Esther:
"As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day; that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor."

The historical connection between Machon Ayalon (the Ayalon Institute) and Purim lies in the shared theme of "The Hidden Secret". In the Purim story, Queen Esther hid her Jewish identity to save her people; similarly, the Ayalon Institute workers used a "kibbutz disguise" to secretly manufacture ammunition under the British noses.
During the British Mandate (1945–1948), the Haganah built a secret underground bullet factory 8 meters below a hill in Rehovot. To keep it hidden, they created like a year-round costume
Join Special Purim tours where visitors, "disguised" as guests discover the "costume" of the factory.

The Ayalon Institute Museum hosted a Stamp unveiling ceremony in honor and memory of Shlomo Hillel, an Israeli diplomat and politician who served as Speaker of the Knesset, Minister of Police and Minister of Internal Affairs. As a Mossad agent he masterminded the Operation Babylon airlift of Iraqi Jews to Israel.
Shlomo Hillel was the president of the Society for Preservation of Israel Heritage Sites and had an active and crucial role in the creation of the Ayalon bullet factory built clandestinely by the Hagana in 1945 during the British Mandate.
