Day 16 of the hunger strike. Sonam Wangchuk ji, one of India’s most respected innovators and environmental voices, has reportedly lost around 8 kg while peacefully demanding to be heard. If anything happens to him, history will ask who chose silence over responsibility.
At the same time, students and families are still reeling from the NEET paper leak controversy. The allegations of exam failures, the shattered dreams of lakhs of aspirants, and reports of students taking their own lives have left the nation demanding accountability. Yet, there has been no meaningful political responsibility fixed, and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan continues in office despite widespread calls for accountability.
A democracy is not tested by how it treats the powerful, but by how it responds to those who protest peacefully and those whose futures have been broken.
The government cannot keep looking away. Listen before another irreversible tragedy unfolds.
