Quantum physics does not give room for mysticism - Dr. Moncy V. John.
While it is a fact that the concept of reality in Quantum mechanics cannot be explained with classical mechanical comcepts, mixing mystery with the concept of quantum reality will set back the progress of science - Dr. Moncy V. John, a quantum physics researcher, pointed out.
Commemorating the 100th anniversary of quantum mechanics, the Breakthrough Science Society Kottayam Chapter, Dr. Moncy V. John, who is also a visiting professor at the School of Pure and Applied Physics, MG University, was speaking at a lecture program on quantum reality held at the Galileo Science Center, Kottayam, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of quantum mechanics.
The classical understanding of reality is based on determinism, continuity and locality. But the reality of quantum mechanics is based on uncertainty, discontinuity, and non-locality. Superposition of states is a reality in quantum physics.
There are attempts to link quantum physics with mysticism. Quantum physics has developed a concept of reality that is very different from the Newtonian worldview. A lot of research is going on in this subject. Although the dominant trend is for the Copenhagen interpretation, which is shared by scientists including Heisenberg, there is also a lot of research going on in the de Broglie-Bohm model, a modified form of the pilot wave theory, citing a Nature magazine survey, he pointed out in response to a question.
P. N Thankachan, P K Shaila, Rajimol, and A N Sudheesh spoke.
