A beautiful exhibition commemorating 100 years of Godrej in Kolkata put together by the .archives team at the Hubble showcases the history of their branch. Entrenched in the context of the city, its people and their needs this exhibition presents a window into how Godrej was then a preferred choice by the public and private sector for innovative solutions. Pioneering steel storage systems and furniture Godrej introduced its typewriter which became a favorite of the bengali typist. Dont miss the letterbox with old-school postcards used for visitor reviews.

Woking on heritage structures can be challenging and fun. Upgrading a 100 year old structure and future proofing it means adding contemporary services. Here we add core cuts to run conduits from one room to the other without harming the structural integrity of the building.

Our design interprets the many lives lived within these beautiful 100-year-old homes. Rooted in adaptive reuse, the project carefully weaves together three distinct programs — private, semi-private, and public — to create layered experiences for both the family and visitors.

This ancestral house is being reimagined with sensitivity, preserving memory while making space for dialogue, reflection, and engagement.

We look forward to unveiling this significant project to the nation later this year.

I knew that destiny would bring me here some day. The grandeur of Ellora humbles you in more ways than one. The temple resonates with devotion and human excellence at every level. Encompassing all aspects of Hindu belief it was built for us to undergo a complete understanding of Hindu mythology using interpretive stories. What made them build a structure of this scale? Were there manuals that were followed for the 200 years it took to build? How did they achieve this level of finesse? Why can't we build k**e this anymore?

A wonderful year of learning and contributing. To many more in the future. Thanks to rhe wonderful people who have contributed to our projects.

Designing for Networks of the Past – The Rotunda at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya
One of the first spaces visitors encounter while entering Networks of the Past is the Rotunda—an architectural threshold that seamlessly connects multiple galleries beneath a grand Indo-Saracenic dome.
At the heart of the Rotunda sits a meticulously crafted scaled model of Dholavira, an extraordinary exemplar of Harappan Civilization urban planning, architecture, and technological ingenuity dating back to circa 2600 BCE. The model foregrounds the Harappans’ sophisticated grid-iron street layouts, the hierarchical organization of the citadel, middle town, and lower town, and the acropolis—alongside vast reservoirs and water-harvesting systems fed by carefully engineered channels to the north and south. Together, these elements speak of a civilization deeply attuned to environment, infrastructure, and governance.
The model, crafted by young sculptors, is brought alive through interactive lighting that highlights specific urban components, complemented by digital tablets that flank the installation and provide layered interpretive content. While the city model anchors the Rotunda as its central focus, the perimeter walls host a series of exhibits that expand the narrative—inviting visitors to explore how Harappan cities cultivated food, stored surplus, traded across regions, and evolved over time. These displays collectively offer insights into material culture, lifestyle, and technological innovation.
Spatially, the Rotunda was conceived as a dual experience: an inner core centred on the Harappan city, and an outer ring of antiquities and interpretive displays. The deep blue palette used across the gallery subtly references the waterways that underpinned trade networks and inter-civilizational exchange in the ancient world.
The Rotunda at CSMVS thus becomes both an architectural and conceptual prelude to Networks of the Past—demonstrating how museum design, rooted in restraint and minimalism, can amplify narrative power while honouring heritage.

As Prashant Bhat photographs one of our greatest projects till date we await eagerly to see this new gallery at CSMVS through his lens. More to come as we unveil our approach as the museum designers to making this beautiful project for Mumbai , India and the World.

Mapping Heritage through Design Evolution | Interio by Godrej, Mumbai

Tracing a century of design innovation, Interio by Godrej celebrates the evolution of Indian furniture — from the timeless Storwels to the iconic tubular chairs that brought world-class design into Indian homes as early as the first half of the 20th century.

Through revolutionary foresight and a deep commitment to functional aesthetics, Godrej shaped everyday living, turning its furniture into a cultural legacy and household name for generations.

A hundred years later, Interio reimagines its heritage — revitalizing its design language with a contemporary spirit and a quiet homage to its origins.

At this flagship store in Mumbai, Matrika Design Collaborative has curated and designed two unique exhibits that map this lineage — celebrating the journey of Storwels and Chairs as enduring symbols of craftsmanship, innovation, and modern Indian identity.
