Big Events is currently curating an exclusive collection of Horses / Equus paintings in Oils, Acrylics, Digital art & Mixed Media at the Dubai International Horse Fair, World Trade Centre. Prash Sankhé hails from a family of artists. A gifted artist himself, he has pursued the study of Fine Arts and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Drawings and Paintings from the University of Mumbai. A Un
iversity Gold Medalist, he has dabbled with a variety of subjects including landscapes, live figures, abstracts and figurative work in oils, acrylics, water colors and inks. An eye for detail and studies in anatomy combined with strong command over the graphite and charcoal made drawing his biggest strength. His aesthetic sense in sketching and portraiture coupled with keen interest in the study of animals have paved the path to this current artistic endeavor – Equus. Equus is everyting related to horses. The meaning of horse has different significance in different cultures. As a Celtic symbol and in the Greco-Roman culture, horse was associated with victory, domination and virility. In the Chinese culture Horse is associated with love, endurance and stability. In Hinduism, the Horse is linked to the cosmos and the native Americans believe that horse is the harbinger of spirit knowledge symbolizing freedom. In the arab world the horse has been at the cornerstone of life and culture. The arabian horse symbolizes power, grace, beauty, nobility, strength, freedom and vitality. The black and white theme dominates the artist work. While black embodies the mystery and the secretiveness of the night, white signifies the light and vitality of the day. A subtle but definitive approach towards the clash of negative and positive spaces in a painted canvas is attempted. Prash is an avid reader and an enthusiast photographer. If he is not capturing subjects on canvass he is doing it on camera. He loves travelling and is a keen nature trekker. Prash loves to talk and has been invited for speaking at various art forums in the region. Some of his works are in public and private collection in India and abroad.
