Yosef Joseph Yaakov Dadoune is a French-Israeli artist. Dadoune's artworks delve into themes of displacement, migration, and cultural identity, particularly focusing on the experiences of Eastern Jewish communities within Israeli society. Drawing from his own background as a second-generation immigrant from Algeria and France, Dadoune explores the complexities of cultural assimilation and the erasure of traditions. Dadoune's drawings challenge the Zionist symbols of rootedness and belonging, instead utilizing the flower as a metaphor for nomadism and the experience of being detached from one's cultural heritage.

Through his art, Dadoune invites viewers to reflect on the impact of immigration, exile, and the loss of ancestral connections, prompting a deeper understanding of the multifaceted nature of identity and belonging.

Coming soon to Bihar Museum Biennale 2023: Suryakal – an ode to our relationship with our nearest star, the Sun.

Suryakal explores our relationship with the sun through three dimensions: Sabhyata, Samaj and Samay.

In Samaj, behold the deeply moving photographs of Chhath - an age-old festival native to Bihar, where devotees worship the setting and rising sun.
Exceptional for its veneration of the sun and recognised for its life-force binding the community, Chhath is a widely celebrated festival, and a marker of the intangible heritage of Bihar, within and outside India.
