Sometimes, We Need to Change the Lens

Recently, I had a conversation with someone at work that made me pause.

I realized I was looking at that person through the lens of some of my past professional experiences.

I had seen similar situations before.
I had experienced certain behaviours before.
And somewhere, without consciously realizing it, I had started expecting the same story to repeat itself.

But this time, it didn’t.

I changed my approach.

Instead of reacting to what I thought I was seeing, I became more curious about what was actually happening.

And something shifted.

The person didn’t necessarily change. My lens did.

That small shift made the interaction easier, more productive—and surprisingly, much less mentally exhausting.

It reminded me how often we carry our professional experiences with us.

We may leave the meeting, close the laptop and go home, but the thoughts don’t always stay at work.

A difficult interaction can follow us into dinner.

A disagreement can occupy our mind long after the conversation ends.

A past experience can quietly influence how we approach the next person.

And perhaps this is where both leadership and Talent Development have something important to learn.

We often talk about developing people by identifying gaps, behaviours and capabilities.

But sometimes development begins much earlier:

with the lens through which we see people.

Are we seeing the person in front of us?

Or are we seeing our past experience of someone else?

Are we responding to what is happening now?

Or reacting to what happened before?

I’m learning to pause and ask myself:

“Am I looking at this situation—or am I looking through an old lens?”

Because sometimes, we don’t need a different person, a different team, or even a different situation.

We simply need a different lens.

And perhaps looking beneath and beyond that lens is where some of our biggest growth begins.

🍫 Tiny Punjabi workers. Giant chocolate barfi. Endless imagination.

What you’re watching isn’t just an AI-generated image.

It’s an idea that started in my head… and slowly transformed into a living miniature world.

Every scene is imagined, designed, animated, and stitched together using multiple AI tools to create tiny cinematic stories that feel almost real.

For me, this isn’t just content.

It’s storytelling in a new era—where imagination is the only limit.

If these little worlds make you pause, smile, or wonder “How was this made?”… then my job is done.

And trust me, we’re just getting started.

Follow along as I turn impossible ideas into miniature movies—one tiny story at a time. ❤️

🥪 The crisp coating. The sizzling oil. The satisfying ASMR of a miniature bread pakora coming to life.

A year ago, we’d have instantly assumed this was animation.

Today, many of us have to pause and ask:

“Is this real… or AI?”

That’s how quickly generative AI has evolved.

We’re no longer just creating digital art—we’re creating experiences that challenge our perception of reality.

For me, these miniature ASMR videos are more than creative content.

They’re a reminder that the future of AI isn’t only about generating images or videos. It’s about developing the discernment to navigate a world where the line between real and synthetic is becoming increasingly subtle.

In talent development, that means building AI literacy alongside technical skills.

Because the most valuable skill in the age of AI may not be creating with it.

It may be knowing how to question it.

🥘 Tiny hands. Realistic textures. The soft sound of a miniature roti puffing up beside rich paneer gravy.

If this made you look twice, you’re not alone.

AI has reached a point where it’s no longer just generating content—it’s creating experiences that feel surprisingly real.

For me, these miniature ASMR videos are more than creative experiments.

They’re a glimpse into how rapidly generative AI is reshaping storytelling.

As professionals in talent development, that shift matters.

The skills of the future won’t just be about using AI tools.
They’ll be about thinking critically, creating responsibly, and knowing when to trust what we see—and when to question it.

The technology is getting better every day.

Our AI literacy should grow just as fast.

🥞 The sizzle. The tiny spatula. The perfectly crisp miniature dosa.

Creating this ASMR reel was a reminder of how quickly AI creativity is evolving.

What once looked obviously generated is now becoming remarkably lifelike—capturing textures, sounds, and tiny details that make you pause and wonder, “Is this real?”

As someone in talent development, I find this shift exciting and important.

The conversation is no longer just about creating content with AI.

It’s about building the skills to evaluate it, question it, and use it responsibly.

The future belongs to those who can combine technology with creativity—and critical thinking with curiosity.

And if AI can make us smile over a tiny dosa, imagine what it can help us create in learning, storytelling, and beyond.

🥪 My Pixar version is busy building a giant sandwich.

Layer by layer.
Ingredient by ingredient.

It made me think…

Talent development works the same way.

Confidence isn’t built in a day.
Leadership isn’t built in a workshop.
High performance isn’t built through one course.

It’s built one layer at a time—
a new skill,
a coaching conversation,
a stretch assignment,
a lesson learned,
a habit repeated.

The final outcome may look impressive.

But the real magic is in every layer that came before it.

That’s how people grow.
That’s how careers are built.
One layer at a time.

🎲 Tiny kids laughing, running, and playing on a giant Ludo board—where every move is an adventure and every square holds a new surprise.

Watching this reminded me of something we often forget as adults.

We learned our biggest lessons through play.

We explored without fear.
We failed without embarrassment.
We celebrated every small win.

Somewhere along the way, learning became synonymous with pressure.

In talent development, perhaps it’s time to bring back a little more curiosity, experimentation, and joy.

Because the best learning experiences don’t just build skills.

They bring out the child who was never afraid to learn.

🏪 What if your favorite brands came alive as tiny street pop-up stalls?

Watching miniature worlds recreate familiar brands reminds me of an important truth:

People don’t connect with products.

They connect with experiences.

The same applies to talent development.

Employees rarely remember every slide from a training session.
They remember how the experience made them feel.

The organizations that stand out—just like the brands we love—design memorable experiences, spark curiosity, and create moments worth sharing.

Whether it’s a pop-up stall on a busy street or a learning experience at work, engagement is never accidental.

It’s thoughtfully designed.
