P420 ARTE CONTEMPORANEA E LIBRI ha inaugurato lo scorso 23 gennaio 2010 il proprio spazio a Bologna in Piazza dei Martiri 5/2, adiacente al MAMBO e nei pressi del centro storico e dalla stazione di Bologna. P420 nasce con il preciso intento di presentare e trattare l'opera di artisti appartenenti alle principali avanguardie nate, in Italia e all'estero, tra gli anni ‘50 e gli anni ‘80, con partico

lare attenzione ai decenni '60 e '70, così incredibilmente ricchi e prolifici di nuove idee e di nuove espressioni artistiche. E' in quest'ottica che la proposta di P420 propone parte dalla corrente Informale degli anni Cinquanta per arrivare alle più recenti esperienze degli anni ‘70, attraverso la destrutturazione di Zero e Nul, le innovazioni artistiche e culturali introdotte dall'Arte Concettuale, Processuale, dalla Land Art, Minimal, Narrative, Performance, Arte ottica-cinetica e Programmata, Arte Povera, Fluxus e manifestazioni multimediali, Poesia Visiva e Concreta, Nuova Pittura, ecc. P420 dedica inoltre la massima attenzione alla ricerca nel settore della documentazione, intendendo arricchire le conoscenze del collezionista mediante una notevole proposta di documenti originali quali cataloghi e monografie degli artisti e delle correnti artistiche trattate. Il supporto documentale non sarà mai considerato secondario all'opera e sarà invece sempre presente nelle mostre e negli allestimenti come parte integrante di un progetto di presentazione dell'Arte Contemporanea al pubblico che integri gli schemi dell'attività commerciale con le esigenze collezionistiche e gli aspetti più prettamente culturali e poetici della ricerca artistica.

: ‘Grande Assurdo’, Adelaide Cioni’s solo exhibition at Palazzo Collicola Spoleto, curated by Saverio Verini.

For the occasion, the artist presents a brand-new project, conceived specifically for the ground floor of the Palazzo. This is Adelaide Cioni’s first solo exhibition in an Italian public institution: an immersive journey in which each room unfolds as a single vision, populated by geometric, organic and architectural forms, animals in suspended elements, vertical lawns, recurring symbols and non-human presences.

Through materials such as fabric, plaster and wood, Cioni engages with the museum's architecture, enhancing its perspectives, lengths and viewpoints in a continuous perception interplay that transforms the usual configuration of the museum's spaces.

The exhibition, drawing influences ranging from art history to the theatre of the absurd via mystical visions, takes the form of a series of envelopes and surprising spaces, leading the visitor beyond the ordinary into a poetic and liberating dimension.

Rodrigo Hernández's work at 'Superglue, or Inventing the Friend', a group exhibition at CAC, curated by Valentinas Klimašauskas.

Rodrigo Hernández has developed a poetics in which elements from literature, art history and observation of the world converge in a new continuously evolving vocabulary, spoken from the surface of things. As if left alone to gaze at each other, figurative and abstract motifs unite and dialogue with each other, generating works that remind us of the unknown, yet present themselves to us with a warm familiarity.

The result, poetic and somehow ironic, looks like the coming together of a universe intended to seek balance between physics and metaphysics, figuration and abstraction.

Predominantly presenting figurative art, the exhibition invites a reconsideration of the CAC's relationship with its audience.

: Alessandra Spranzi and John Coplans at Settantaventidue

P420 is pleased to announce two upcoming solo exhibitions by Alessandra Spranzi, ‘Tightrope’, and John Coplans.

The artistic research of Alessandra Spranzi (1962, Milan) is connected with photography—photographic staging, the reuse of images of her own or taken by others; collage; and “photographs of photographs”. Her work reveals a habit of handling materials, everyday situations, domestic settings, neglected and obsolete objects, handwork and its gestures. Through these tools and these subjects, through appropriations and even minimal manipulations, Spranzi never stops questioning the mystery of existence and the fundamental forces that determine our fate, as well as that of the objects and spaces that surround us.

Born in London, John Coplans (1920–2003) pursued one of the most singular trajectories in post-war art. Through fragmented, large-scale views of his own body, reconfigured into isolated details and sculptural forms, he challenged disused perceptions of masculinity and the enduring legacy of the classical tradition. These uncompromising images transformed the ageing body into a universal subject, foregrounding vulnerability, physical decline and the passage of time with an unflinching humanism.

Remembering Franco Vaccari on what would have been his birthday, June 18th. 🕊️

Franco Vaccari was born in Modena on June 18, 1936. He received a scientific education and earned a degree in Physics. He is recognized as the inventor of the concept of "Exhibition in real time," which he explored from 1969 onward in both theoretical and operational ways.

The theme of the trace and the photographic medium are two constants found throughout his entire work. In ‘Traces’, 1966, he presents photographs
of graffiti as anonymous found poetry. From the outset, Vaccari does not use
photography to produce mimetic, analogical images, but as the imprint of a
presence, a signal, a physical trace or track of a being-there. In this sense, his
project for the Venice Biennale of 1972, ‘Exhibition in Real Time no.4: Leave on
the walls a photographic trace of your fleeting visit’ is emblematic. The position of his artwork is tangential to several areas, but what perhaps best expresses its
meaning is the term ‘conceptual realism’.

to Khaled Jarada! 🎉

Khaled Jarada creates compositions captured in medias res (in the midst of
things). His figures appear unbalanced, anxious, out of place. The condition
of suspension in his works is not only temporal but also spatial.

Jarada began exploring the unease of this liminal dimension when he himself experienced displacement, living in exile. Rejecting all forms of rigidity, he elevates moments, places, objects, and figures—often overlooked—transforming them into subjects worthy of display, appreciation, and idealization.

'Soglia / Common Acts', a group exhibition at Società delle Api presented by Francis Offman, featuring a selection of works from the Silvia Fiorucci Collection.

Offman's pieces are free compositions that imply fragile references, minimal and understated, to a faraway world (Africa and Rwanda, where the artist spent some of his childhood) and its customs, a traumatic memory and an uncertain identity; jagged, dynamic spaces that cannot give rise to an integral landscape.

The exhibition, which brings together works by artists from different generations and geographies, activates the space not only as a venue for display but as a sensory and relational environment, offering a perspective on the collection through the eyes of an artist who is part of it. In dialogue with works from the collection, a number of his previously unseen works will also be presented.
