E' un luogo di scambio multidisciplinare, dove i tempi e le modalità di ricerca e studio cambiano di volta in volta MOON is a place of dialogue and creation in which innovation represents a basis for a new way to enjoy art and history. We believe we can operate as a real contemporary art museum by involving Academies and institutions through teaching and, at the same time, by getting involved and
participating in independent projects of the international contemporary art scene. This because we believe it is important to work on links between institutions and places where future artists, curators, writers, musicians and philosophers are formed on one side and centers of research and communication on the other side. To this regard, MOON dreams of a society where each person can have a critical role. We would like to form individuals able to acknowledge the authenticity in artistic expressions, available as a resource to serve the community. Thanks to the experiences of its members, the territory will come to flourish. In order to create such a dynamic and innovative new platform, we found it appropriate to begin with our proposal to the Carini territory. This town is an ideal place thanks to its geographical and historical memory. It has age-old roots and at the same time is eager to find a cultural awakening after years of neglect. In that sense MOON is a cultural and a political project in Carini. We are happy to accept the proposal to participate in this selection, a perfect synergy between us and the current administration. A key part of our activity is to give back life to the assigned locations through their restoration and a new arrangement. We believe that taking care of those settings is the first step to manage them consciously and making them a home and a heritage for citizens in Carini and in Europe. The respect for the historical, architectural and natural features of this territory will be the central issue of the first contemporary art center in Carini, which is meant to become one of the most important places for artistic research in the Mediterranean. We find it necessary to create a project that involves our society in all its parts, including companies and artisans working in this area, because our idea of culture includes investments and new forms of development for the territory. We also need to draw upon the work of the associations operating in this area for a long time, by listening to their proposals and trying to give them an international perspective. This would make our presence not purely recreational but a real chance for living out of spreading and use of the human knowledge. These subjects will be studied and developed together with the citizens of the metropolitan territory of Palermo throughout A.I.R., workshops, performances, and exhibitions. The aim is to create cultural exchanges within the entire European area, calling upon young generations and their future perspectives by teaching them to become aware -and believe- in their natural individual gift and their community’s potential.
