ON VIEW: “The Human Stain” at Monica De Cardenas Milano

“The Human Stain” unfolds as a meditation on presence, absence, and transformation through painting.

From Christopher Orr’s dreamlike landscapes and Erin Lawlor’s fluid, atmospheric surfaces to Gideon Rubin’s faceless figures and Ivan Seal’s ambiguous objects, each practice explores instability as a generative force. Across the exhibition, painting becomes a place where emotion, materiality, and subconscious tensions emerge through traces, omissions, and layered forms.

In un sistema che premia spesso l'immediatezza, la riconoscibilità istantanea e la velocità della fruizione, lavori come quello di Chung Eun-Mo procedono in direzione radicalmente opposta.

📌 Upcoming exhibition: “The Human Stain” opening at Monica De Cardenas Milano on May 14, 6 to 8 pm

The exhibition brings together eight artists whose practices engage with the human figure and its zones of ambiguity, tracing through painting memories, dreams, and emotions. Between presence and dissolution, recognition and erasure, each work explores the “stain” as both a material trace and a metaphor for what remains suspended within the image.

Works by Michael Ajerman, Emilio Gola, Erin Lawlor, Christopher Orr, Alessandro Pessoli, Gideon Rubin, Ivan Seal, and Guy Yanai.
