Galleria Umberto Di Marino The Galleria Umberto Di Marino opened in 1994 in Giugliano. A oggi la galleria vanta una gestione interamente famigliare.

From the start, it focused on the coexistence between artistic language and troubled suburbs like those of Naples. The aim of this first experiment was to create a place that garnered interest and participation, firstly for the gallery’s circle of contacts and then for the entire community. Over the years, Galleria Umberto Di Marino has put greater emphasis on its spirit of research, directing its

interest towards an analysis of the relationship between architecture, nature, anthropology and alternative lifestyles. To date, the gallery is proud of being managed exclusively by family members.

La Galleria Umberto Di Marino inizia la sua attività nel 1994 a Giugliano, concentrando da subito la propria attenzione sulla coesistenza tra il linguaggio artistico e una periferia difficile come quella napoletana. L’obiettivo di questa prima esperienza è dare vita a un luogo di interesse e di partecipazione, prima per la propria cerchia di contatti e successivamente per l’intera comunità. La sua programmazione prevede la regolare alternanza di mostre di giovani artisti italiani e internazionali. Nel corso degli anni, la Galleria Umberto Di Marino ha rafforzato il proprio spirito di ricerca, indirizzando il suo interesse verso un’analisi del rapporto tra architettura, natura, antropologia e stili di vita alternativi. Uno sguardo attento al territorio e il supporto delle istituzioni ha permesso la realizzazione di numerose mostre off-site in luoghi storici della città di Napoli.

Still vibrant and full of energy, the extraordinary mosaic by Alberto Di Fabio (1966, Avezzano, IT) was realized on the occasion of Panorama L’Aquila, the city-wide exhibition conceived by Italics and curated by Cristiana Perrella in 2023. The work was donated by the artist and permanently installed in L’Aquila, Abruzzo, the region where he was born, as a gesture of hope for the city’s future and for the continued renewal of its cultural life.

[Like the cosmic dance of the universe, our planet is constantly evolving and in motion. Following the tragic earthquake that shook the city of L’Aquila in 2009, I conceived a work made of stones and mosaic fragments that, brought together, create new forms and new lives in movement. The mosaic and the image that emerges from it represent the passage of the soul from the physical body into an astral state: an ethereal journey towards dimensions parallel to our own. I dream of installing the mosaic within the urban fabric, where people can experience it as part of the rebirth and beauty of the historic city centre. Just as the earth and stones trembled and destroyed part of the city, this work speaks of reconstruction through countless small mosaic fragments: of human suffering and resilience, and of the strength to rise, recompose, and create a more harmonious and refined world through the elevation and transformation of our souls.]

Installation views of RMN (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) (2005) by , winner of the first edition of the Premio Omero, now permanently installed at in Ancona.

RMN is an immersive sound installation that translates real-time tidal data from Italy’s National Tide Gauge Network into low-frequency sound waves. Rather than being experienced visually, the work unfolds through vibration, allowing visitors to perceive it directly with their bodies. Sound resonates through the stomach, bones, and skull, activating proprioception and transforming the exhibition space into a living, ever-changing field of invisible energy. By dissolving the primacy of vision, RMN proposes a radically inclusive approach to experiencing art—one in which perception is physical, multisensory, and deeply personal. Continuously shaped by both natural forces and the presence of visitors, the installation creates a dynamic dialogue between technology and nature, the museum and its surrounding environment.

The jury unanimously recognized RMN as a pioneering work that seamlessly brings together artistic research, technology, environmental awareness, accessibility, and multisensory experience, highlighting its enduring relevance more than twenty years after it was first conceived.

On the occasion of Guendalina Cerruti’s first solo exhibition in Naples, we are pleased to present three new works from a recent series exploring the dimensions of dreams and visions, each realized on IKEA’s iconic pillowcases.

Through a system of references and accumulations, what is fragile, eccentric, or excessive is transformed into a language capable of generating meaning and establishing a direct relationship with the viewer. The micro is not synonymous with marginality; rather, it becomes a way of reading reality, capable of revealing the tensions of the present. What emerges are layered assemblages — between sculpture, collage, and personal narratives — that are fulfilled in the encounter with the spectator, at the point where the private dimension opens onto forms of shared affectivity.

FOCUS ON THE WORK:
As part of Love in the Paleolithic, the first solo project by Isadora Neves Marques conceived and developed entirely within the domestic spaces of Casa Di Marino, we present Love in the Paleolithic, a series of small-format oil paintings on canvas.

This new body of work, the artist’s first series of paintings, moves between memory, archaeology, and personal imagery, returning to some of the earliest known depictions of intimacy. At its center is a painted reworking of the Paleolithic engraving from the Côa Valley in Portugal: a human figure and a bull locked in a charged, immediate encounter rendered in stark, economical lines. Around it, Neves Marques revisits other prehistoric sexual images from Val Camonica in the Italian Alps and from Scandinavia, embracing human figures, intertwined bodies, and rare scenes in which sexuality appears without narrative distance.

Rather than reconstruction, these works operate through recollection and research as a form of translation, in which each image shifts slightly, repeating like a variation on a theme. Alongside them appear quieter, more intimate motifs: couches from years of psychotherapy, worn chairs, and even the artist’s therapist’s old shoes, all treated with the same formal attention and sense of presence as the ancient carvings. Taken together, the works trace a movement between distant time and private memory, between rock and room, between bodies that are ancient and bodies that are lived with today.

Color Blu Stramilione is a new site-specific project by Diego Perrone, unfolding across two interventions between the Grotta della Tagliata in Ansedonia and the Casa dello Scheletro in the Parco Archeologico dell’Antica Città di Cosa.

At the Grotta della Tagliata, where sunlight reaches the concealed seabed for only a few hours each day, the first work, created through a distinctive glass-casting process, captures and refracts light, transforming the underwater space into a shifting, kaleidoscopic environment. Conceived in dialogue with the Maremma seascape, the intervention brings together light, water, and matter. The project continues at the Ancient City of Cosa, where a second glass sculpture is presented within the Casa dello Scheletro, creating an ideal connection between the cave’s seabed and the ancient harbour of the Roman colony. The two works establish a dialogue between landscape, history, and the sea.

The title derives from an imaginary word in Gianni Rodari’s A inventare i numeri. Stramilione suggests something beyond every scale, while blue evokes the sea, the sky, and the shifting nature of perception. On the cave floor, glass oscillates between material presence and visual dissolution, continuously reshaping the underwater environment. Color Blu Stramilione unfolds as a journey through the submerged landscape, revealing the deep connections between this territory, the sea, and its millennial history.

We are delighted to share a selection of images from ARTE VIVA. Processi performativi e partecipativi come pratica – XXVIII Premio Gallarate. Curated by Lorenzo Balbi, Eva Fabbris, and Caterina Riva, the exhibition features works by Francesca Grilli alongside those of Allison Grimaldi Donahue, Francesco Fonassi, Beatrice Marchi, and Martina Rota.

The 28th edition of the Premio Gallarate brings together the work of four women artists and one male artist whose practices unfold through performative languages involving speech, the body, sound, and human interaction. Embracing a process-based and relational approach, these works challenge the boundaries of the artwork itself while rethinking the role of the audience as an active participant.

In addition to the installation composed of the HAND series, we are especially pleased to announce that Museo MAGA has acquired Francesca Grilli’s work Ring Ring Ring.

Developed through research into New York’s early Italian-American communities, Ring Ring Ring transforms a family ring into a symbol of collective memory. Shaped over time through shared use and subsequently cast in brass, the ring is polished during the performance with the aid of a contact microphone. The amplified sound of this gesture evokes the movement of ocean waves, recalling the beginning of the migratory journey.

We are pleased to share images of both the installation and the performance Ring Ring Ring, which took place on 5 June 2026. The exhibition remains on view at Museo MAGA until 11 October 2026.
