From a simple block of wood to a sacred work of art

Here you can see how a large church statue is created. First, several pieces of wood are carefully glued together to form a solid block. Then, our artists shape the sculpture step by step by hand, bringing the figure hidden inside the wood to life.

As Michelangelo said: “The sculpture is already inside the block — we just have to reveal it.”

After the carving is completed, the statue is finely painted and prepared for its place in a church.

Farewell and Hope

Station XIII: Jesus is taken down from the Cross
"Joseph of Arimathea... asked Pilate to let him take down the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission." (John 19:38)

Station XIV: Jesus is laid in the tomb
"Then Joseph took the body... and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn in the rock." (Matthew 27:59-60)

Reflect:
Silence. Grief. The end seems final. But in the darkness of the tomb, God is already preparing the victory of life.

Prayer:
Lord, let us never lose hope in the resurrection, even when we face the "tombs" of our own lives. Amen.

The Bitter End

Station XI: Jesus is nailed to the Cross
"When they came to the place that is called The Skull, they crucified Jesus there." (Luke 23:33)

Station XII: Jesus dies on the Cross
"Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, 'Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.' Having said this, he breathed his last." (Luke 23:46)

Reflect:
The surrender is complete. In the darkest moment of history, God's greatest love for humanity is revealed.

Prayer:
We thank You, Lord, for giving Your life for us. In Your death, we find our life. Amen.
