Re-Fact International workshop on industrial heritage

Re-FACT is the name assigned by partner universities to their long-time experience of international workshops on the recovery of industrial heritage in the broader context of urban regeneration, with the intention to renew their commitment and shared path for their research. The purpose of Re-FACT is to strengthen the international partnership extending the scientific debate and confrontation, and

to structure with unitary character the didactic experiences of the past and the future research activities in a constantly evolving organic project. Indeed, the activity of Re-FACT extends to multiple didactic and research activities, such as master thesis initiated by the annual workshops, or its link to the individual research of the participating teachers. The name Re-FACT is the result of a brainstorm on the major research objectives, more than ever up-to-date in a scenario of necessary methodological reflections on historical and cultural, social-economical and environmental sustainability of any urban and architectural development. It is therefore the synthesis of terms such as re-use, re-functionalize or re-activate, but also re-design in order to re-admire.

El alcalde de Sevilla, José Luis Sanz, tiene un problema con las escalas y con la cultura. Hacer rotondas, recalificar suelo y tener limpio Tomares se le daba bien. Puede que una ciudad como Sevilla se escape de su campo de visión. La propuesta de trasladar Bellas Artes a la Fábrica de Tabacos es de traca.
Por el bien de todos, esperemos que tenga cierta humildad, se contenga y escuche a quien sabe más que él. En general.

Yesterday we were in Villanueva del Río y Minas (Sevilla), at the inauguration of the Laboratory for Industrial Heritage Research "Pozo 5". Managed by our friend and collaborator Julian Sobrino. University, region and city authorities support the project. We expect best results for this great adventure.
