La mostra riunisce una selezione di venti fotografie realizzate tra il 2019 e il 2025. Alla base della ricerca di Ilaria Sagaria vi è un processo che nasce da un’urgenza interiore: il bisogno di dare espressione a stati emotivi e pensieri che, attraverso un tempo di sedimentazione e di approfondimento teorico, si traducono in racconto visivo. In questo senso, ogni scatto diventa una forma di autoritratto, anche quando il soggetto non coincide con l’artista stessa.

The exhibition brings together a selection of twenty photographs made between 2019 and 2025. At the core of Sagaria’s practice is an inner urgency to give form to emotional states and thought. Over time, through sedimentation and theoretical reflection, these are translated into visual narratives. In this sense, each photograph becomes a form of self-portraiture, even when the subject is not the artist herself.

ARTIST RESIDENCY
“Una Residenza tutta per sé”
(A Residency of one’s own)
6th Edition – Todi, May 2026

Hannah J. Kohler is the selected artist to take part in the sixth edition of the residency “Una Residenza tutta per sé”, curated by Maja Arte Contemporanea, in collaboration with the Roman collectors Umberto Morera and Anna Maria Balsano Morera.

In her practice, Hannah J. Kohler explores themes such as self-perception and the perception of others, manifestations of femininity, and social role models, often using her own body as subject. A defining aspect of her work is her dual role as both photographer and subject. Self-staging becomes a tool to visualise conceptual frameworks that would otherwise remain intangible.
Through photographic series, video works, multimedia installations, and drawings, she engages with imagery inspired by Greek antiquity as well as contemporary social prejudices. In doing so, Kohler not only references art historical models but also develops a distinctive, sometimes humorous formal language.
