K11 Art Foundation 是由鄭志剛博士於 2010 年在香港成立的非牟利機構，以在國際藝壇扶植亞洲新晉藝術家為使命，並致力促進當代藝術蓬勃發展。

K11 Art Foundation 透過舉辦展覽、藝術家駐留計劃和教育活動等項目，為藝術家開拓向世界展示才華、實踐創作及互動交流的平台；許多項目更因著與國際上具權威性的藝術文化機構合作而促成，不但推動新晉和資深藝術家、策展人及業内人士之間跨文化協作，亦拓展觀眾的創意視野，連繫不同的藝術社群。

Founded by Dr. Adrian Cheng in 2010, the K11 Art Foundation is a non-profit organisation in Hong Kong dedicated to nurturing emerging Asian artists on the international art scene while fostering the development of contemporary art. In pursuing its mission, the K11 Art Foundation organises a diverse range of art projects, including exhibitions, artist residencies, and educational programmes, providing platforms for artists to showcase their talents, embark on new endeavours, and engage in exchanging ideas. Many of these projects are presented in partnership with leading art and cultural institutions around the globe, which enables meaningful cross-cultural collaborations among emerging and established artists, esteemed curators, and other industry specialists. Through its efforts, the K11 Art Foundation also contributes to broadening audiences’ creative horizons, strengthening the connections among different art communities. Over the years, the K11 Art Foundation has collaborated with the Royal Academy of Arts, Serpentine Galleries, the Institute of Contemporary Arts, and international contemporary art magazine ArtReview in London; Centre Pompidou, Palais de Tokyo, and Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris; Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí in Figueres; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the New Museum, and The Museum of Modern Art, and MoMA PS1 in New York; The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles; UCCA Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing; Videotage, British Council Hong Kong, Design Trust, and Asia Art Archive in Hong Kong, among others.

In celebration of Seoul Art Week 2027, Art Sonje Center (아트선재센터 Art Sonje Center ) and K11 Art Foundation (KAF) co-hosted a joint Breakfast Talk, marking the launch of our strategic partnership – and the appointment of Sunjung Kim as the first Asian member of the K11 Art Foundation (KAF) International Council.

Yang Ah Ham: An Undefined Panorama (31 July – 4 October 2026) and Muyeong Kim: Pig (28 August – 4 October 2026) exhibitions explore the distinct practices of two contemporary artists whose current exhibitions examine societal frameworks, physical spaces and institutional structures.

Opening remarks by Sunjung Kim, Artistic Director of Art Sonje Center, and Dr. Adrian Cheng, Founder of K11 Art Foundation (KAF), were followed by presentations by Korean multimedia artists Yang Ah Ham (Yang Ah Ham ) – winner of the Daum Prize (2004) and Korea Artist Prize (2005) - and Muyeong Kim (Muyeong Kim ) – artist-in-residence at Art Explora Paris (2025) and recipient of the first Amado Art Prize (2024), and an exhibition walkthrough. This intimate morning programme brought together a select group of collectors, curators and art enthusiasts for an exchange centred on artistic practice and contemporary cultural dialogue.

The Weight of Color: Ji Xin’s Material Journey

Ji Xin ( JiXin 季鑫) merges visual languages across different eras and cultures within a single canvas. Supported by K11 Art Foundation and Gana Art Foundation ( Gana Art 가나아트), Ji Xin explored Jeju’s natural landscape on foot, drawing fresh inspiration from rough basalt surfaces, vibrant traditional architectural motifs, and local mythologies like the story of the goddess Seolmundae.

To capture the tactile essence of Jeju in its purest form, Ji Xin adopted watercolor, oil pastels, and oil sticks as his primary mediums. In The Shadowed Face 1 (2026), dense pigment layers and rich shadowed tones shape an idealized world between the familiar and the unfamiliar, reflecting his deeply introspective approach. K11 Art Foundation is proud to champion Ji Xin’s dedication to craftsmanship and his ongoing artistic evolution.

색채의 무게: 지신의 매체 탐구

지신은 서로 다른 시대와 문화의 시각 언어를 하나의 화면에 결합해 새로운 이미지와 공간을 구성해 왔습니다. K11 아트 파운데이션과 가나문화재단의 협력으로 진행된 이번 레지던시에서 작가는 제주 곳곳을 탐색하며 거칠고 투박한 현무암, 전통 건축의 화려한 문양과 색채, 그리고 설문대할망 신화를 비롯한 제주 고유의 신화적 요소를 마주하며 새로운 영감을 얻었습니다.

이 과정에서 지신 작가는 수채화, 오일 파스텔, 오일 스틱을 주재료로 사용하여 제주의 촉각적 인상을 가장 순수한 형태로 담아냈습니다. 종이에 오일 파스텔 등으로 작업한 작품 《The Shadowed Face 1》(2026)은 밀도 높은 색채 레이어와 어두운 톤을 통해 익숙함과 낯섦 사이의 이상적인 세계를 구축하며, 작가의 깊은 내면적 탐구를 보여줍니다. K11 아트 파운데이션은 지속적으로 확장되는 그의 예술적 실천에 주목하며 지속적인 지지를 보냅니다.

色彩的重量：探尋季鑫的創作材料

作為「Gana Art 濟州島駐留計劃」的首位藝術家，季鑫將不同時期和文化的視覺語言融於一幅作品之中。在 K11 Art Foundation 與 Gana Art Foundation 聯合推動的駐留期間，他徒步探索了島上的自然環境。玄武岩粗糙的表面、傳統建築的裝飾圖案與鮮艷色彩，以及雪門台女神等本土神話，都為他與內心世界建立了新的連結。

在這個過程中，季鑫選擇水彩與油畫棒作為主要繪畫材料，以直接而具觸感的方式保留濟州島的物質印象。作品《The Shadowed Face 1》（2026）以紙本油畫棒等介質創作，透過濃厚的色彩層次與暗影色調，構建出介於熟悉與陌生之間的理想化世界，展現他內省的創作理念。K11 Art Foundation 榮幸能陪伴並支持藝術家在此次駐留中的深層創作探索。

Ji Xin Jeju Residency Presentation: “Into the Woods”

K11 Art Foundation and Gana Art Foundation ( Gana Art 가나아트) are pleased to announce the completion of Ji Xin (JiXin 季鑫 )’s residency and the presentation of Into the Woods at Gana Art Hannam. This presentation is the first project to emerge from the Gana Art Jeju Residency, developed through a collaboration between the Gana Art Foundation and K11 Art Foundation. Located in the Jeoji Culture Artists Village, the residency provides artists from Korea and abroad with time and space to focus on their practice while engaging closely with the landscape and culture of Jeju. The space retains the structure and spatial character of a traditional Korean hanok while incorporating contemporary facilities. By bringing living and working together within a single environment, the residency allows the experience of inhabiting a place to become part of the creative process.

The title of the exhibition, Into the Woods, begins with Ji Xin’s first arrival in Jeju. Entering the greenery under the darkness of night, he encountered a profound sense of quiet and stillness. His time in Jeju gradually became a process of moving further into this unfamiliarity, where the word ‘Into’ speaks to this movement. For Ji Xin, this residency provided an opportunity to connect new sensations with his existing practice, stepping beyond the boundaries of the familiar to open up exciting possibilities for his future work.

Residencies are a space for reflection, dialogue, and deep connection with the local landscape. In Jeju, where local beliefs honor the spirit within all things, from the ancient trees to the quiet fields, Ji Xin captures this mystical energy through his initial sketches.

From the moths gathered under the night light to lines infused with local folklore, these behind-the-scenes moments show how nature and spirit intertwine to shape his emerging creation.

在濟州島的駐留，是一段與自然、神靈與萬物對話的旅程。當地人相信萬物有靈，花草樹木間皆有神靈棲息。季鑫將這份靜謐而神秘的在地感知，轉化為紙上的第一筆墨痕。

從深夜被燈光吸引的飛蛾，到融入自然意象的草圖，每一幅手稿與筆觸，都記錄著他如何將當地的風物與信仰，細緻地織入自己的創作語境中。

K11 Art Foundation (KAF) are thrilled to share a glimpse of EXHAUST—the solo exhibition of the first-ever winner of the K11 Art Foundation Artist Prize, Liu Xin (Xin LIU 劉昕 ), now on view at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (Fondazione Sandretto ) in Turin.

In EXHAUST, Liu Xin masterfully traces how human aspiration mutates and decays, contributing to material lifecycles both microscopic and astronomic.

🏆 K11 Art Foundation Prize: Cultural Pioneer — Mathieu da Vinha

We are pleased to present the K11 Art Foundation Prize: Cultural Pioneer to Mathieu da Vinha, Director of the Palace of Versailles Research Centre (CRCV) (Centre de recherche du château de Versailles ). Utilizing his deep expertise on the Court of Versailles, da Vinha has served as the historical consultant on major international cultural projects, including the acclaimed television series Versailles and Marie Antoinette. Through these collaborations, he successfully brings rigorous historical scholarship to modern storytelling, bridging the gap between archival research and public engagement.

In his acceptance, da Vinha noted that this award recognizes the collective work of historians, while celebrating the vital cultural dialogue that exists between Versailles and the world, particularly with China and its thousands of years of heritage.

This dedication to history is further supported by a milestone collaboration. The K11 Craft & Guild Foundation (KCG) (K11 Craft & Guild Foundation ) has partnered with the Versailles Palace Research Centre to support the PROSOCOUR open science digital database. This academic alliance maps out the biographies of the master artisans who built the visual landscape of Versailles but were long overshadowed by grand narratives, giving historical heritage crafts a renewed global resonance.

Driven by its core mission to propel emerging Asian artists onto the global stage, K11 Art Foundation (KAF) is pleased to announce a three-year strategic partnership with South Korea’s influential Gana Foundation for Arts and Culture ( ). For its inaugural residency on Jeju Island, the foundation has invited the internationally acclaimed Chinese contemporary artist Ji Xin ( ). The program will be hosted in a meticulously restored traditional hanok (Korean house), a space that seamlessly bridges local cultural heritage with contemporary creative exploration.

Works produced during the residency will be showcased at Gana Art Hannam during the week of Frieze Seoul in September 2026.

During the week of Frieze Seoul, K11 Art Foundation, in collaboration with Art Sonje Center , will host an exclusive talk program with artists Yang Ah Ham and Muyeong Kim, whose work will be on view at Art Sonje Center. Designed for collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts, the event offers an opportunity for meaningful dialogue while celebrating the growing cultural exchange between the Chinese, South Korean, and international art communities.

Can our digital footprints be read as a contemporary metaphor for reincarnation?

🌟 As winner of the inaugural K11 Art Foundation (KAF) Prize: Boundary Breaker, Lu Yang () continues to dismantle the walls between biological reality and digital fantasy. From the digital avatars of the DOKU reality and digital fantasy to the current show at Espace Louis Vuitton Venezia “DOKU The Illusion”, the artist transforms conceptual reflections on impermanence into intense, immersive audiovisual experiences.

Drawing from Buddhist wisdom on impermanence and illusion, Lu Yang responds to a contemporary world increasingly reshaped by AI, cybernetics, digital identity, and virtual realities. As boundaries between the virtual and the real dissolve, how should we reimagine our definition of the ‘self’? 🪐✨
