Nakamura Keith Haring Collection（中村キースヘリング美術館）は、「キース・ヘリングの世界～混沌から希望へ～」をテーマに、キース・ヘリングのコレクションのみを展示する、世界で初めての美術館です。日本がバブルに沸いていた1980年代、アメリカではインフレの激化、失業率の増加、経済の混乱とともに、大都市では治安が悪化し、犯罪の多発がクローズアップされていました。1980年代アメリカの「光と影」を背景に、キース・ヘリングは10年余りという短い期間に精力的な創作活動を行いました。彼は、世相を反映するかのように「未来への希望と夢」を表現しながらも、一方では「人間の持つ狂気」などを表した作品も多く、やはり「光と影」両方の側面の作品を残しています。当美術館はキース・ヘリングの貴重な作品を展示することを目的としているだけでなく、彼が発したメッセージを体感していただけるよう、建築家　北川原温の設計により、「光と影」を表現した空間を創出しています。作品をご覧いただくと同時に、空間体験を通じてキースの考えたことや人生、そして彼が駆け抜けた時代について想いをめぐらせ、来館される皆さんに「希望」と「夢」というエネルギーを感受していただきたいと考えています。

"大自然のエネルギーと純粋な感性が向き合う場"
小淵沢は八ヶ岳の裾野に位置し、緑溢れる自然環境に包まれ、かつては縄文文化が隆盛を極めた場所です。また、日本で最も日照時間が長く、標高1000mの気候は、生命を育む母胎の環境と似ているといわれています。キース・ヘリングの作品は他民族大都市であるニューヨークというひとつのカオスから生み出されたポップ・アートであり、自然や緑といった言葉とはかけ離れた作品群ですが、大都市が生み出す無数の「生」のエネルギーと、八ヶ岳の自然が宿すエネルギーや縄文時代の遺構が発する生命力に通底する力強さと純粋な感性が向き合う場として、この地が選ばれました。エネルギーの交流の場として、そして心を開放する場として、当美術館を創造してゆきます。

NEW ARRIVALS｜Pop Shop Collection🎨

キース・ヘリングが1986年にオープンした、自らがデザインしたグッズを販売するショップ「Pop Shop」のオリジナルグッズに、新アイテムが登場。
ヘリングの作品32点を収録した塗り絵や、カラフルなラバーマグネットセットなどがラインナップ。

New items have joined the original merchandise lineup from “Pop Shop,” the shop Keith Haring opened in 1986 to sell merchandise he designed himself.
The lineup includes a coloring book featuring 32 of Haring’s works and colorful rubber magnets.

*Rubber magnets are available for purchase in Japan only.

1988年にアメリカで制定された、性的指向や性自認を公言する人々を祝福する国際的な記念日です。
キース・ヘリングは、制定を記念して、暗闇からドアを開け、明るい部屋へ入っていく人物を描いた公式ポスターを制作しました。

ポップアップショップではナショナル・カミングアウト・デー公式グッズを販売‼️
日本では中村キース・ヘリング美術館でしか購入できない「ナショカミ」グッズを揃えて、皆さまをお待ちしています❣️

そして10月11日当日はスペシャルゲストによるナショナル・カミングアウト・デー・パーティを開催🎉

The museum is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with last admission at 4:30 p.m.
Please note that, starting with this exhibition, the museum will be closed every Wednesday. We kindly ask that you keep this in mind when planning your visit.

🌈ナショナル・カミングアウト・デー特別展示がスタート🌈

今年も、10月11日の「ナショナル・カミングアウト・デー」に合わせたポスター特別展示が始まりました。

キース・ヘリングは、ゲイであることを公にして活動していました。まだ偏見や差別が根強かった1980年代当時、これは決して一般的なことではありませんでした。1988年8月、ヘリングは #ナショナルカミングアウトデーのプロジェクトのためにこの作品を制作し、LGBTQ+としてのアイデンティティを受け入れ、誇りをもって生きることを後押ししました。この作品は、現在もこの特別な記念日のシンボルとして知られています🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️✨

🌈 National Coming Out Day Special Exhibition Now Open 🌈

This year’s special poster exhibition marking National Coming Out Day on October 11 is now open.

Keith Haring was an artist who openly identified as a gay man, which was not very common in the 1980s, when prejudice and discrimination were still widespread. On August, 1988, he contributed this work to the project, championing the journey of embracing and celebrating one’s LGBTQ+ identity. This work remains recognized as a symbol of this special day 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️✨

現在エントランスでは、1988年に広島で開催されたチャリティーコンサート「HIROSHIMA ‘88」のために制作されたポスターを展示しています。

1958年に生まれた私は、宇宙時代の最初の世代であり、テレビ技術と容易に得られる満足感に満ちた世界に生まれた。私は原子時代の子供だ。60年代のアメリカで育ち、ベトナム戦争に関する『ライフ』の記事を通じて戦争について学んだ。白人中流階級の家庭で、暖かなリビングルームのテレビ画面越しに安全に暴動を見ていた。

Raised in America during the sixties and learning about war from Life Magazines on Vietnam. Watching riots on television in a warm living room comfortably safe in middle-class white America.

Working in the United States at the end of the Cold War, Haring was not only an artist but also an activist. Through his art, he continued to address social issues and share messages of peace and human rights.
