【軽井沢ゼミ開催！】(English below)

昨日、10／6（火）軽井沢にある3つの小学校（東部・中部・西部）の合同授業「軽井沢ゼミ」が開催されました。元気いっぱいの5，6年生が20名集まり、当館で初めての現代アートを 開催中の展覧会「シン・チャイナ・パルス➤新世代アートを体感せよ」 で体験しました。
冒頭、美術館のご紹介と各部屋のみどころを説明し、自由鑑賞の時間につなげます。それから、予め用意していたクイズラリーを持って 30分間の 鑑賞タイムスタート。最後に振りかえりの時間と、答えシートを渡して終了となりました。
チャペルの見学時間も設け楽しんでいただけたと思います。最初戸惑い気味だった子どもたちが、だんだんそれぞれの作品世界に飲み込まれ
夢中になっていくのがわかり、最初の解説がヒントとして役に立っている印象でした。

これをきっかけにアートに興味をもつ子が一人でも増えるのであれば、本望です。

【Karuizawa Seminar is Here!】
Yesterday, October 6 (Tue), a joint school program called the "Karuizawa Seminar" was held, bringing together students from three local elementary schools: Tobu, Chubu, and Seibu.
Twenty energetic 5th and 6th graders gathered at our museum to experience contemporary art for the very first time through our current exhibition, "Neo China Pulse: Experience the New Generation Art."
We kicked off the session with a brief introduction to the museum and highlighted the key points of each gallery before letting them explore freely. Armed with a specially prepared quiz rally sheet, the kids then set off for a 30-minute viewing adventure!
We wrapped up the program with a reflection time and handed out the answer sheets.
We also included a visit to our chapel, which everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy. Although the children appeared a bit hesitant at first, it was wonderful to see them gradually lose themselves in the unique world of each artwork. The introductory tips we shared at the beginning really seemed to help them dive into the experience!

Nothing would make us happier than if this experience inspires even one child to develop a lifelong interest in art☺️！

【軽井沢の文化振興について語ってきました！】（English below)

昨日、安東美術館（Musée Ando à Karuizawa）4周年記念無料イベント「アートな軽井沢　森に広がる美術館の魅力」にお招きいただき、トークに参加させていただきました。
冒頭30分は、軽井沢町長・土屋三千夫氏による「なぜ軽井沢にはたくさんの美術館があるのか」を歴史から読み解く講演。軽井沢の文化と美術館の歩みを知ることができ、とても興味深いお話でした。
その後は、安東美術館の主任学芸員・榑沼さん、軽井沢新聞の編集長・広川さん、土屋町長とご一緒に、私も軽井沢ニューアートミュージアムの学芸員として、1時間強お話しさせていただきました。
私は、軽井沢にある通年開館の私立美術館として、開館から14年を迎えた当館が、観光で訪れる方を中心としていた来場者層から、地域の学校や先生方とのつながりを少しずつ築き、地域との接点を広げてきた過程についてお話ししました。
「学芸員の仕事とは？」という問いから、軽井沢町民の方々が地元の文化施設にどれだけ誇りや関心を持っているのか、美術館が地域に愛されるためには何が必要なのかなど、話はさまざまな方向へ広がりました。
最後には、地元の方々に美術館を知っていただくために、私たちから町長へ広報支援をお願いする場面もあり、なかなか濃い内容のシンポジウムとなりました。
学芸員の仕事は、展覧会や作品に関わることだけでなく、教育普及や広報、地域とのつながりづくりなど、多岐にわたります。今回、これまでの活動をあらためて振り返りながら、「美術館と地域」についてさまざまな立場の方と考える貴重な機会となりました。
4周年を迎えられた安東美術館の皆さま、このような素敵な機会をいただきありがとうございました。ご一緒した皆さま、そしてご来場くださった皆さまにも、心より感謝申し上げます。

【Talking About Culture and Museums in Karuizawa!】

Yesterday, Saturday, I was invited to speak at a free event celebrating the 4th anniversary of Musée Ando à Karuizawa, titled “Artistic Karuizawa: The Appeal of Museums Spreading Through the Forest.”

The event began with a fascinating 30-minute talk by Karuizawa Mayor Michio Tsuchiya, who explored the history behind the question, “Why are there so many museums in Karuizawa?” It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the cultural history of Karuizawa and its museums.

The second part was a panel discussion with Kurenuma-san, Chief Curator of Musée Ando à Karuizawa; Hirokawa-san, Editor-in-Chief of Karuizawa Shimbun; Mayor Tsuchiya; and Namino Ishikawa, Curator at Karuizawa New Art Museum.

I shared our experience as a year-round private museum in Karuizawa, drawing on 14 years of experience as part of the local art scene. I spoke about how we have gradually built connections with local schools and teachers, expanding our relationship beyond our primarily tourist-based audience to the local community.

Our discussion ranged from “What does a curator actually do?” to how local residents view and engage with cultural institutions in their own town, and what it takes for a museum to become truly loved by its community. We even had the opportunity to ask the mayor for greater support in communicating our activities to local residents.

A curator’s work extends far beyond exhibitions and artworks. It also involves education and outreach, communications, and building meaningful relationships with the local community. It was a valuable opportunity to reflect on what we have learned over the years and to think together about the future of museums and their communities in Karuizawa.

【上田さくら国際高等学校の皆さんがご来館！】
一昨日は1年生、昨日は2・3年生の皆さんが、展覧会「シン・チャイナ・パルス➤新世代アートを体感せよ！」を鑑賞しに来てくれました！
同じ東信エリアとはいえ、車で1時間半はかかる遠方です。それにもかかわらず、毎年美術・イラストコースの皆さんを引き連れて来てくださる熱心な古川先生。
今年はなんと、2日間にわたる鑑賞授業として企画してくださいました。
今回は10名前後のグループだったため、各展示室をツアー形式で回りながら見どころを解説させていただきました。2巡目はクイズラリーに挑戦してさらに理解を深め、最後は恒例の記念撮影とお買い物を楽しんで帰られました。

古川先生、ほか引率してくださった先生たち、そして生徒の皆さん、今年もありがとうございました😊

【Art Education in Action📸】
Over the last two days, we welcomed the Art & Illustration students from Ueda Sakura Kokusai High School to our exhibition, "Neo China Pulse: Experience the New Generation of Art!"
Despite a 1.5-hour drive from within the Toshin region, their amazing teacher, Mr. Furukawa, makes this annual trip a school tradition—this time expanding it to a two-day event!
With cozy groups of around 10, we gave them guided tours of the galleries. They also enjoyed a quiz rally, took our signature group photos, and did some shopping.
A big thank you to the teachers and students for joining us!

【シン・チャイナ・パルス展イベントレポート✨】
昨日8月8日（土）、アーティストのダイ・イン（Dai Ying）氏によるライブ・パフォーマンスを開催いたしました。
今回披露されたのは、展示中の映像作品《Red》からさらに進化した最新のパフォーマンス。
白いロングドレスのような衣装を纏い、顔や肌を血や炎を思わせる鮮烈な赤で塗りたくった圧倒的な姿で作家が現れると、会場は一気に緊迫感に包まれました。
鈴をチリンチリンと鳴らしながらインスタレーション《Temple 2》の周囲を巡り、感情を爆発させるように両手を掲げて激しく舞い踊るダイ・イン氏。
突如として始まった激しい嗚咽、そして美術館の1階にまで轟き渡るほどの魂の叫び「アー！」という声。その生々しく、時に直視するのが辛いほど迫真の表現に、集まった観客は20分間、息をのんで釘付けとなりました。

まさに身体と命の限界に挑むようなパフォーマンス。作家自身も非常に満足度の高い表情を見せ、イベントは大成功を収めました。
この衝撃的なパフォーマンスの映像は、後日公式SNS等でアップされる予定です。当日お越しいただけなかった方も、ぜひその圧倒的な世界観をご覧ください。

【 «Neo China Pulse»Exhibition Event Report】
Yesterday, Saturday, August 8th, we held a live performance by artist Dai Ying.
This special event featured the latest, further evolved version of her video work, Red. The venue was instantly wrapped in an intense tension as the artist appeared, clad in a white long dress with her face and skin painted in a vivid, striking red that evoked blood or flames.
Ringing a small bell with a crisp, chilling chime, Dai Ying moved around the large-scale installation Temple 2, intensely dancing and gesturing with her arms raised high as if exploding with raw emotion.
Suddenly, her movements gave way to deep, heavy sobbing, followed by a series of primal screams—"Ahhhhh!"—that echoed throughout the entire museum, reaching all the way down to the first floor.
For 20 minutes, the audience of about 20 people stood frozen and captivated by this raw, visceral expression, which at times was almost too agonizing to look at directly.
It was a performance that pushed the very limits of the human body and spirit.

The artist herself expressed great satisfaction, making the event a resounding success.
A video recording of this breathtaking performance will be uploaded to our official social media channels at a later date. Even if you couldn't make it to the museum yesterday, we hope you will experience this overwhelming artistic world.
