Bridge Studio Café is opening! 喫茶室、オープンします。🍵

京都・浄土寺の旧岡本医院 Bridge Studio / 旧岡本医院 の薬部屋を活用した、小さな喫茶室をオープンします。

季節の植物や薬草を使ったお茶、シロップのドリンクなどをご用意しています。

かつて薬が保管されていた部屋で、お茶を飲みながら、植物や土地、日々の暮らしとのつながりを感じるひとときを。

展示やイベントがある日も、何もない日も、ふらっと立ち寄れる場所になればと思っています。

しばらくは不定期オープン。11月より営業日をお知らせいたします。どうぞお気軽にお立ち寄りください。

We’re opening a small café in the former dispensary of Okamoto Clinic in Jōdoji, Kyoto.

We serve herbal teas and botanical drinks made with seasonal plants, syrups, and other ingredients inspired by the local landscape.

In a room once used to store medicine, we invite you to slow down over a cup of tea and reconnect with plants, place, and everyday life.

Whether there’s an exhibition or event happening or not, we hope this will become a place where you can simply drop by. Irregularly open from November 2026.

10月25日13:00〜14:00にて、Bridge Studioの前庭のケアを庭師の方と行います。毎月第三 or 第四日曜日の午後を目安に、コレクティブケアデーを毎月行いますので、興味がある方は自由にご参加ください。予約なし、途中参加途中退出OK。 作業のあとは、庭で摘んだハーブティーを飲みながらお話しましょう。

Deep Care Lab と Bridge Studio / 旧岡本医院 が共同で行う「処方室」プロジェクト。”くすり”をテーマに、私たちの心身の状態と都市空間の関係性を探ります。今回手入れをする薬草の庭はまだまだ成長段階ですが、和洋のハーブを集めて育てています。植えてみたいハーブがある方はぜひお持ちください🌿

9月26日（土）、 Bridge Studio / 旧岡本医院 の「処方室」にて、ワークショップ「残暑と不調に、きゅうりを処方する」とあわせて、喫茶室をオープンします。

12:00–17:00のあいだ、どなたでもお立ち寄りいただけます。

植物や土地から生まれる、小さな「処方」を味わいに、ぜひお越しください。ワークショップに参加されない方もお気軽にどうぞ。

🌿 Old Okamoto Clinic: Prescription Room｜Café OPEN

On Saturday, September 26, the café at Prescription Room, the former dispensary of Okamoto Clinic, will be open alongside our workshop, “Prescribing Cucumbers for Late-Summer Ailments.”

The café will be open from 12:00–17:00, and everyone is welcome to drop by—even if you are not joining the workshop.

We’ll be serving drinks made with our homemade botanical syrups: quince & rosemary, quince & brown sugar & sansho pepper, and green shiso & ginger, along with tea and a Yamato-tohki roasted tea blend.

Come by and taste a small “prescription” made from plants and the local landscape.

Thank you to everyone who came to August Henry’s exhibition and celebrated the reopening of Bridge Studio with us. ✨

This summer show marked the end of summer 2026, filling the space with August’s dreamy installations and vibrant colors.

The exhibition space at Bridge Studio is now available for rent. While our residency program is currently invitation-only, we’re open to exploring different formats of collaboration, exhibitions, events, and other ways of working together.

🌿 Prescription Room Café POP-UP

Tomorrow, September 6, we’re opening the café at the former dispensary of Okamoto Clinic, Prescription Room, for a one-day pop-up alongside the final day of our current exhibition by August Henry

Enjoy soda, hot drinks and tea made with three homemade botanical syrups: quince & rosemary, quince & brown sugar & sansho pepper, and green shiso & ginger. We’ll also serve a Yamato-tohki roasted tea blend.

Come by for the exhibition, stay for a small botanical “prescription.” 🌿

🌿 処方室 喫茶室 POP-UP

明日9/6（日）、Bridge Studioの August Henry の展示最終日にあわせて、旧岡本医院「処方室」の喫茶室にてポップアップを行います。

花梨ローズマリー、花梨黒糖山椒、青紫蘇ジンジャーの3種のシロップを使ったソーダやお湯割り、紅茶と、大和当帰ほうじ茶ブレンドをご用意します。

展示を見ながら、植物からつくられた小さな「処方」をどうぞ。

The end of summer, and the beginning of a new chapter.

After six months of renovation, Bridge Studio is reopening — with a new café & pop-up space, and a baby in the mix! 🍼

More soon on our new residency opportunities and regular opening hours.

For now, we’re open 12:00–17:00 this week, through 6 September, with August Henry.

夏の終わり、新しい章のはじまり。

半年間の改修を終え、Bridge Studioが再オープンしました。新しくできた喫茶スペース＆ポップアップスペース、そして新しい家族も加わって、ここからまた新しい時間が始まります。

新しいレジデンシーの機会や通常のオープン日時についても、近日中にお知らせします。

まずは9月6日まで、12:00–17:00でオープン。9月6日には喫茶室のポップアップも予定しています。

**浄土寺の子供たち｜Jōdoji-no-Kodomotachi**

Bridge Studioでは、August Henryによる四季の展覧会シリーズの最終章となる夏の展示「浄土寺の子供たち」を開催します。

New York Cityと京都を拠点に活動するinterdisciplinary maker、August。油彩、水彩、クレヨン、インク、文字、ガラス、布、ブルーシートなど、さまざまな素材と技法を用いて、2026年の夏、浄土寺で過ごした時間を作品へと変換しました。

大文字山、入道雲、公園、店先。日常の風景を、子どもの頃のような鮮やかな色彩とwonderを通して描きます。

なかでも印象的なのがブルーシート。Bridge Studioと自身の「子ども時代の家」の建設に携わるなかで、床を守り、傷を覆い、ものづくりの場をつくるために使われてきた素材です。その青は、水や夏のスイカ割り、そして繰り返される夏の記憶を呼び起こします。

アメリカの田舎で過ごした幼少期の風景と、現在、大文字山のふもとで暮らし、つくる日々。二つの時間と場所が重なり合いながら、「浄土寺の子供たち」は、夏の熱、音、光、そして雲を眺めて過ごす時間を描き出します。

**Jōdoji-no-Kodomotachi**

Bridge Studio presents the summer chapter—the finale of August Henry’s four-season exhibition series.

Based between New York City and Kyoto, interdisciplinary maker August works across painting, drawing, textiles, furniture, and installation. For this exhibition, August brings together oil paint, watercolor, crayon, ink, writing, glass, fabric, and blue sheet to capture the heat, sounds, colors, and sensations of summer in Jōdoji in 2026.

Daimonjiyama, nyūdōgumo clouds, playgrounds, and storefronts become something like a fairy tale, seen through the eyes of a child. A limited palette of saturated red, blue, and yellow preserves this sense of childlike wonder.

The blue sheet holds a special place in the exhibition. Used throughout the construction of August’s childhood home and Bridge Studio, it protected floors, covered wounds, and created a temporary stage for making. Its blue evokes water, the summer ritual of suikawari, and the repeated summers of childhood.

Here, the mental landscapes of August’s youth in rural America meet their present life as a maker beneath Daimonjiyama—a space between memory and everyday life, childhood and adulthood, America and Kyoto.

The final season of August’s year-long series at Bridge Studio.

📖 New Publication — Bridge Studio Annual Vol.1
We are pleased to share the launch of ”Things Unwanted” — Bridge Studio 2026, our first annual publication.
This inaugural volume reflects on objects, spaces, labor, and presences that tend to be overlooked, avoided, or quietly pushed aside — from dust, soot, and construction debris, to vacant land, abandoned sites, invisible forms of labor, aging infrastructure, and inherited responsibilities that are difficult to sustain. Through essays by former Bridge Studio residents and collaborators — artists, designers, researchers, and local practitioners — the publication asks how “unwanted things” come into being, how they are rendered invisible, and what cities and communities choose to keep or discard.

『Things Unwanted｜不要なもの、望まれないもの』
Bridge Studioの年間誌を作成しました。創刊号のテーマは「Things Unwanted —— 不要なもの、望まれないもの、疎まれる存在」。
埃や煤、建設現場の瓦礫といった副産物、空き地や放棄された場所、メンテナンスや掃除などの不可視化された労働、老朽化したインフラ、相続されたが維持されにくい不動産や責任などを扱っています。
過去のレジデントやワークショップを通じて関わってくださったアーティスト、クリエイター、研究者、地域の実践者によるエッセイを通して、「不要なもの」「望まれないもの」がどのように生まれ、見過ごされてきたのか、そして都市や地域が何を「残し」、何を「捨ててきたのか」を問い直すことを目的としています。
