トークセッション「All That Shines（燦燦）」

展覧会を企画したアレクサンドラ・モンローと片岡真実が登壇し、それぞれグローバル、テクノロジー、スピリチュアリティ、光、シンクレティズムといった視点から森のこれまでの実践を紐解きます。後半は森万里子氏を迎え、三者による鼎談を実施。1990年代の鮮烈なデビューから今日に至るまで、森万里子が何を問い続け、一貫して探求し続けてきたのか。境界を越え、普遍的な真理を追い求める森万里子の世界観に迫ります。

"Mariko Mori" Related Program "Talk Session: All That Shines" on Tuesday, Nov. 3

The exhibition "Mariko Mori: All That Shines" surveys Mariko Mori’s artistic career spanning more than three decades. For this talk session, Alexandra Munroe and Kataoka Mami, who curated the exhibition, will take the stage to unpack Mori’s practice to date as they examine the work from global, technology, spirituality, light, and syncretic perspectives. In the second half, they will be joined by Mariko Mori herself for a three-way discussion. From her striking debut in the 1990s to the present day, what has Mariko Mori continuously questioned and consistently explored in her work? This session will hone in on her worldview, which transcends boundaries and pursues universal truths.

一般財団法人森現代芸術財団（MoriCAF）と森美術館は、「森アートアワード」の初代グランプリを受賞した片山真理の受賞記念展を共同開催いたします。
片山は、フィルム写真や刺繍・縫いものなどの手仕事を通じて、自身の身体の境界を拡張する可能性を社会へ提示してきました。その実践が同アワードで高く評価され、国際的なアートシーンでのさらなる飛躍が期待されています。本展では、受賞理由にもなったヴィクトリア＆アルバート博物館（ロンドン）に収蔵された近作「tree of life」シリーズ（2024年～）を中心とした作品を紹介します。

The Mori Contemporary Art Foundation (MoriCAF) and the Mori Art Museum will hold an exhibition showcasing the work of Katayama Mari, winner of the Mori Art Award’s inaugural Grand Prize.
Through analogue photography and handicraft practices such as needlework and collage, Katayama has presented compelling possibilities for expanding the boundaries of her own body and its relationship with others. Her practice was highly praised by the Mori Art Award, and she is expected to achieve further success on the international art scene.
This exhibition will feature an installation that includes the “tree of life” series (2024-), Katayama’s recent work that is now part of the collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and served as a key reason for her selection.

米国ニューメキシコ州サンタフェを拠点に活動するブリー・ルエイは陶の物質性とアーティスト自身の身体性、そして手作業に焦点を当て、パフォーマティブな要素を取り入れた彫刻作品を制作してきました。代表的なシリーズに、自身の体重と同じ重さの粘土を押し広げ、引き裂き、掻き出すといった全身の動きによって成形した作品があります。本展では、滋賀県立陶芸の森でのアーティスト・イン・レジデンスを通じて、日本の土や陶芸史についてリサーチを行い、その成果を自身の実践と結びつけた新作として発表します。

Brie Ruais, an artist based in Santa Fe, NM, USA, creates sculptures that incorporate performative elements, focusing on the materiality of ceramic, physicality of the artist herself, as well as the nature of hands-on labor. Among her signature works is a series shaped through full-body movements―spreading, tearing, and scraping a mass of clay equal to her own body weight. For this exhibition, Ruais, through an artist-in-residence at the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park in Shiga Prefecture, has conducted research into Japanese clay and ceramic history, integrating her findings with her own practice to present new works.

ジャッカワーン・ニンタムロン（1977年、タイ・ロッブリー生まれ）は、短編・長編映画からドキュメンタリー、マルチチャンネル映像インスタレーションに至るまで、多様な映像形式を手掛けています。彼の映像作品は、仏教思想と生態学的な概念を、SFやシュルレアリスムのイメージに織り交ぜることで、人間の経験を支配する目に見えない力を探求します。本展は、洪水により水没した世界をいかだで漂う男を描いた《根茎（リゾーム）》（2022年）を軸に、3つの作品を上映します。

Traversing diverse forms of moving images—from short and feature films to documentaries and multi-channel video installations―Jakrawal Nilthamrong (b. 1977 in Lopburi, Thailand) has created a singular body of work that explores the invisible forces governing human experience. His works interlace Buddhist and ecological concepts with sci-fi and surrealist imagery. This screening centers on Rhizome (2022), a work that follows a man on a makeshift raft floating aimlessly above a flooded world.

A major retrospective of world-renowned artist Mariko Mori, her first in Japan in 24 years. Presenting around 40 works—from 1990s performance photography to immersive installations fusing advanced technology, ancient cultures, and astrophysics—it offers an opportunity to reexamine ourselves and the world through the philosophy of “Oneness,” demonstrating the interconnectedness of all life.
