禅フォトギャラリーは5月9日(土)から5月10日(日)にかけて、昨年に引き続きKYOTOGRAPHIE PHOTOBOOK FAIR 2026に参加いたします。会場はロームシアター京都 パークプラザ 3階です。昨年禅フォトギャラリーが刊行した作品集を中心に、近年の話題作をお持ちいたします。

橋本照嵩の写真展「北上川」は5月30日まで開催しております。橋本さんは4月25日(土)に在廊する予定です。是非お立ち寄り下さい！

会議中の5月16日(土)には、全フォトギャラリーディレクターのマーク・ピアソンが聞き手を務め、作家とトークイベントを開催いたします。橋本は「写真には三つの秘密がある」を語りますので、是非お運びください。

Shoko Hashimoto’s exhibition “Kitakami River” is on view until May 30th. Hashimoto will be at the gallery on Saturday, 25th April.

On Saturday, May 16th, the gallery will host a talk event with the artist, moderated by Zen Foto Gallery director Mark Pearson, where the artist will reveal “three secrets in photography”.

禅フォトギャラリーは2026年3月27日（金）から2026年5月30日（土）まで、
『石巻1955.6-1969.5』に続く、写真家・橋本照嵩の最新発表作である『北上川1958－2005』の刊行を記念し、写真展「北上川」を開催いたします。故郷の原風景を写してきた身近な石巻から範囲を広げ、岩手町の御堂観音境内にある北上川の源泉をはじめ、源流域を記録したカラーとモノクロ写真より厳選した作品に加え、写真集未収録の作品も展示いたします。

Zen Foto Gallery is pleased to present “Kitakami River”, a solo exhibition by photographer Shoko Hashimoto, held from Friday, March 27 to Saturday, May 30, 2026. The exhibition celebrates the publication of his latest photobook of the same title, following Ishinomaki 1955.6–1969.5.
Expanding beyond the familiar streets of his hometown Ishinomaki, Hashimoto turns his lens to the Kitakami River, starting from the river source including the sacred spring at Mido Kannon Temple in Iwate-machi. The exhibition brings together a carefully selected body of work in both color and black-and-white, including photographs not featured in the photobook.

“Dream Within a Dream” by Masakazu Murakami starts today. Murakami will be at the gallery on January 30th in the evening, January 31 and February 7.

In the Chinese story “The World Inside a Pillow”, the transient nature of life’s rise and fall is compared to a dream. Indeed, life may be as fleeting as a dream. A dream that emerges and disappears, then fades into oblivion as soon as we wake up — it is like a formless memory, or an incoherent photograph.

“I can hardly remember when and where the photographs were taken. Together with the negative films that I never reviewed, they remained submerged in my memory. Perhaps these photographs, taken half-unconsciously without any intention, offer a glimpse of something similar to the boundary between dream and reality.”

Zen Foto Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition “Dream Within a Dream,” by photographer Masakazu Murakami, from Thursday, January 29 to Saturday, March 14, 2026. This marks the artist’s first exhibition at Zen Foto Gallery and commemorates the release of his latest photobook published by the gallery in October 2025. The exhibition features 26 carefully selected works from his collection of negatives spanning 25 years since around 2000, and represents the series’ debut.

禅フォトギャラリーは2026年1月29日（木）から2026年3月14日（土）まで、写真家・村上仁一個展「夢の又夢」を開催いたします。作家にとって禅フォトギャラリーで初の個展となる本展では、2025年10月に禅フォトギャラリーにより初めて刊行された同名の写真集を記念し、選りすぐりの作品26点を展示いたします。2000年頃より25年分のネガからセレクトしたこのシリーズの初の展示となります。

Peculiar signboards, drifting gazes, the sky above, streams of sunlight and the silhouettes it reveals...
As if one were sinking beneath water, with blurred vision and muffled hearing, the experience while looking at these photos evokes the curious sensation of peering into someone else’s daydream.

不思議な看板、揺れる視線、見上げる空、注ぐ光とそれで浮かび上がるシルエット…
水に沈みながら、ぼやける視界と塞がれた聴覚のまま、誰かの白昼夢を覗き見るような奇妙な体験。
