______________
Focusing on abstract space in Japanese architecture where the bodily dimension (koto) and material requirements (mono) intertwine, this exhibition brings together artist Soshi Matsunobe and architect Ryuji Nakamura to explore the abstraction that lies across both architecture and art. Viewing the venue, Zuiunan, as an active expresser in its own right, the exhibition deconstructs the meaning and function of architecture while attempting spatial interventions that encourage bodily movement. Resonating with the structure and history of the building, this dialogue unsettles our perception and raises new questions regarding contemporary bodily experience. We hope that encounters with the artworks and space in this exhibition will serve as a critical test site that opens up new forms of exchange within society, offering an opportunity to share ways of perceiving the world.
