It focuses on each publisher's uniqueness and provides exclusive opportunity to get to know interesting activities of publishing houses from all over the world. POSTは定期的に扱っている本が全て入れ代わる新しいブックショップです。
出版社という括りで本を特集し、普段書店では見えにくい「出版社」の世界観も感じながら本を見てもらえるスペースです。

[Event] Between Books

We’re taking part in Between Books, an art book fair at Kunsthalle Düsseldorf. Ninety exhibitors come together over three days, and it marks the European debut of “Print, Object, Spread, Trace: POST and Fifteen Years of Art Books, 2011–2026” Copies will be at our table. 本日は印刷の様子をお届けします💭
なかなか目にする機会も限られる印刷の工程ですが、
たくさんの方々に支えられて、1冊の本ができていることを実感します。

The book Print, Object, Spread, Trace — POST and Fifteen Years of Art Books, 2011–2026, which compiles POST’s activities over the 15 years since its opening, will finally be published tomorrow.

Today, we’re sharing a glimpse of the printing process 💭
While it’s not often we get to see the printing process up close, it really brings home the fact that a single book is created thanks to the support of so many people.

この度POSTでは、書籍の刊行に際して「Bar SPOT」を開催いたします。予約不要、どなたでもご参加いただけますので、皆さまお誘い合わせの上、ぜひお立ち寄りくださいませ。

【開催概要】

POSTのアナグラムである「SPOT」はバーをイメージし、ドリンクとフィンガーフードをご用意いたします。普段とは違うPOSTで、完成したばかりの本書をゆっくりご覧いただける機会となります。

To celebrate the book’s publication, POST is hosting “Bar SPOT.” No reservation is required, and everyone is welcome, so please feel free to invite your friends and stop by.

“SPOT,” an anagram of POST, evokes the image of a bar, and we’ll be serving drinks and finger food. This is an opportunity to experience POST in a different light and take your time seeing the newly completed book.

Additionally, starting on the same day as the event, we plan to hold an exhibition focusing on the book’s production process. 色校 / Color Proofs

centreの事務所にて、初の色校を確認しました。

We checked the first round of color proofs at the centre office.

カバーデザイン / Cover Design

カバーデザインの色校が届きました！印刷方法はオフセット印刷とシルクスクリーンの2パターンで検証し、マットな質感に特徴のあるシルクスクリーンを採用することになりました。

The cover proofs arrived! We tested two printing methods — offset and silkscreen — and went with silkscreen for its distinctive matte texture.

PDFで見ていたよりも実物はさらに良くて、想像以上の仕上がりに期待がより高まる場となりました！

The physical proof looked even better than it did as a PDF, and seeing it in person got us that much more excited about how the finished book would turn out!

入稿に向けて / Getting Ready to Go to Press

出版社特集ページの入稿用PDFを、今回取り上げる50出版社分すべて、一つひとつ間違いがないか入念に確認していきます。ここでもcentreチームと密に連絡を取り合いながら、最後の入稿までみっちり作業していきます。

We went through the print-ready PDFs for the publisher spotlight pages one by one, checking all fifty publishers featured in the book for any errors. Here too we stayed in close contact with the centre team, working right up until the final files went to press.

Bar SPOT

POSTのアナグラムをもじったアイデアで「SPOT」と称し、恵比寿の店舗オープンから約20周年を記念するイベントを行いました。今回の書籍刊行の宣伝も兼ねて、とても和やかなひとときに。水面下では出版社特集ページで掲載するタイトルの選定や、膨大な情報の整理などを進めていました。

Playing on an anagram of POST, we called it "SPOT" — an event marking roughly 20 years since our Ebisu shop first opened. It doubled as a chance to promote the upcoming book, and made for a wonderfully relaxed afternoon. Meanwhile, out of sight, we were busy choosing which titles to feature on the publisher spotlight pages and sorting through a mountain of material.

『Cyan / Work 1990–2025』は、グラフィックデザインスタジオCyanの活動を紹介する784ページに及ぶボリュームたっぷりの書籍です。今回刊行する書籍も当初は800ページの想定で、近いページ数であったため、厚みとサイズ感を参考にしていました。（最終的に完成したPOSTの書籍は912ページになりました！）

Cyan / Work 1990–2025 is a substantial 784 pages volume documenting the work of the graphic design studio Cyan. Our own book was initially planned at around 800 pages, so with the page counts being close, we used it as a reference for thickness and overall feel. (The finished POST book ended up at 912 pages!）

束見本 / Dummy Book

当初想定していた800ページがどのくらいの厚さになるのかを試すために、市販のノートを改造して簡易的な束見本を作っています。コデックス装の背の雰囲気も出ていて、いい感じ！完成イメージを膨らませます。

To get a sense of how thick 800 pages would actually be, we made a rough dummy by modifying a store-bought notebook. It even captures the feel of a Codex-bound spine — looking good! It really helps us picture the finished book.

インタビュー / Interviews

今回の書籍のために、6つの出版社へのインタビューも行いました。基本的にはオンラインでのインタビューでしたが、Steidlは5月末のヨーロッパ買い付けに合わせてオフィスを訪れ、直接話を伺いました。本に収録されるテキストには、対面だからこそ話してくれた、他では聞いたことのない本作りについての思想が綴られています。

For this book, we also interviewed six publishers. Most of the conversations took place online, but for Steidl we visited their office in person during our European buying trip at the end of May. The texts included in the book capture ideas about bookmaking we'd never heard anywhere else — thoughts they shared precisely because we were there face to face.

今回は、出版社特集にあわせて制作してきたブロッシャーについて。

来月刊行の『Print, Object, Spread, Trace』の中心にあるのは、POSTがこれまで継続してきた出版社特集です。
2011年から2026年現在まで、特集のたびに、その出版社のためのブロッシャーを制作してきました。

スタジオにそれぞれの出版社のイメージに合わせた色の背景紙を敷き、本を並べて撮影する。
サイズ、仕様、ページ数、ISBNといったスペックをまとめ、一冊ごとに日本語の解説文を添える。そうしてできあがったブロッシャーを用いて、本を紹介してきました。
積み重なった50種類のブロッシャーは、POSTのこれまでの活動そのものを映したものになっています。

Today, a look at the brochures we've made to accompany our publisher features.

At the heart of Print, Object, Spread, Trace, out next month, are the publisher features POST has kept running over the years.
Since 2011, and up to now in 2026, each feature has come with a brochure made for that publisher.

In the studio, we lay down a sheet of colored paper chosen to match the publisher's image, arrange the books, and photograph them.
We gather the specifications — dimensions, binding, page count, ISBN — and write a description in Japanese for every title.
The finished brochures are what we then use to introduce the books, publisher by publisher. Stacked up, the 50 of them are a record of what POST has been doing all these years.
