What does it take to move 147 glass objects across the world? 🌎🤔
The answer is months of teamwork, countless condition checks, custom-built mounts and crates, detailed photography, and a whole lot of careful packing!
Since January, our Conservation, Preparator, Photography, Registration, and Curatorial teams have been preparing objects from last year’s major exhibition, Brilliant Color, for their journey to . In total, 147 objects (174 individual parts) were packed into 9 large crates and shipped overseas.
Once they arrived, every object was unpacked and condition checked again to make sure the trip went smoothly. Warren, CMoG’s Senior Collections Manager, and Amy, CMoG Curator, were onsite in Japan to oversee the process and installation.
