아마도 살면서 제일 다이나믹한 10월이었던것 같은데 내일이 드디어 10월의 마지막밤(날)이네요!

뉴욕이 한국에 오기도 하고, 우리가 인도네시아와 파리와 이태리를 가고, 이렇게 서로가 왔다갔다 하는 이 행동들이 결국엔 눈에 잡히는 다리가 되는것이 아닐까 하는 생각. 그리고 언제나 인연을 소중히 여겨야 겠다고 다짐. ✨

Megan Mi-Ai Lee 의 < The Cat's Meow >는 11월 7일까지 계속됩니다.

이 전시는 라스베가스의 카라오케 바 Cat’s Meow에서 송출되는 라이브스트리밍을 서울의 낮 시간대 안으로 끌어들입니다. 관객은 대낮의 갤러리에서 타인의 한밤을 마주합니다. 정오의 정적과 심야의 과열이 같은 공간 안에서 한 호흡으로 교차할 때, 우리는 ‘내 시간’의 바깥에 있는 타자의 리듬을 감각하게 됩니다. 메간이 말하는 시간의 타자화는 바로 이 지점에서 작동합니다. 서울의 밝기 속에 라스베가스의 밤이 비칠 때, 관객은 단순히 다른 도시의 장면을 보는 것이 아니라, 항상 켜져 있는 세계의 조건—언제나 누군가에게 보여지고, 언제나 기록되는 삶—을 몸으로 체험합니다. 이 시차는 단순한 기술적 장치가 아니라, 동시대 인간이 ‘보여짐의 구조’ 속에서 어떻게 자아와 욕망을 유지하는가를 드러내는 구조적 메타포입니다.

The show brings the live stream of the Las Vegas karaoke bar Cat’s Meow into Seoul’s daylight. Visitors in the gallery encounter another’s night within their own noon. When the stillness of midday intersects with the intensity of midnight, we sense the rhythm of another time beyond our own. This is where Lee’s idea of temporal otherness operates. As Las Vegas night flickers within Seoul’s brightness, the audience experiences not merely another city’s image but the bodily condition of a world that is always on—where life is perpetually visible and recorded. This time difference is not a technical device but a structural metaphor for how contemporary subjects sustain selfhood and desire within the system of visibility.

IAH presents 'The Cat’s Meow', solo exhibition of New York based artist Megan Mi-Ai Lee.
Opening today (Oct 11), 5–8PM. All are welcome! ✨

Lee’s work examines how spectacle, belief, and failure shape the ways we see and perform ourselves in contemporary life. The exhibition traces what happens when stillness and excess overlap within a single rhythm.
