[『루이지 기리의 사진 수업』 증정 이벤트]

루이지 기리는 국내에 열화당()에서 출간한 『루이지 기리의 사진 수업』(2020)으로 처음 소개되었습니다. 이 책은 기리가 1989–1990년 이탈리아 프로젯토 대학교에서 진행한 강의를 바탕으로, 사진의 기술에 앞서 ‘보는 방식’을 사진의 출발점으로 제시합니다.

“풍경을 처음이자 마지막인 것처럼 바라볼 때, 세상의 모든 풍경에 속하게 되는 감각을 느낀다”

이번 전시의 멀티홀에서는 루이지 기리가 이탈리아 남부와 북부를 오가며 촬영한 〈Italian Landscape〉 연작을 선보입니다. 사진들은 마치 작가의 존재를 드러내기를 거부하듯 고요한 정적을 품고 있으면서도, 색과 빛, 공간을 통해 미묘한 친밀함과 향수를 전합니다. 이러한 작품 앞에서 관람객은 자연스레 자신의 기억과 감정을 떠올리며, 눈앞의 풍경 위에 각자의 이야기를 겹쳐 보게 됩니다.

익숙한 듯 낯선 풍경이 만들어내는 미묘한 감각을 전시장에서 경험해 보시기 바랍니다.

“Looking at a landscape as if it were the first and the last time gives one a sense of belonging to all the landscapes in the world.”

In the exhibition’s multi-hall, 𝘐𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘓𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦, a series by Luigi Ghirri photographed while traveling between southern and northern Italy, is presented. The photographs seem to resist revealing the artist’s presence, holding a quiet stillness, while at the same time conveying subtle intimacy and nostalgia through color, light, and space. Infront of these works, viewers naturally recall their own memories and emotions, layering their personal stories onto the landscapes before them.

We invite you to experience at the exhibition the delicate sensibility created by landscapes that feel both familiar and unfamiliar.

The Museum Hanmi Research Center’s 14th issue, titled 𝘖𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘒𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘺: 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘺 𝘌𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘋𝘢𝘦𝘨𝘶, offers an in-depth look at the significance of Daegu photography within the broader history of Korean photography.

The activities of Daegu-based photographers and photography groups, including CHOI Kyebok and KOO Wang Sam, played an important role in shaping the development of Korean photography. This issue goes beyond individual artistic practices to explore photography groups, photography education, and critical debates surrounding photographic aesthetics, presenting diverse stories from the Daegu photography scene.

루이지 기리 회고전 《Infinite Landscapes》의 두 번째 섹션 ‘사물과 이미지 2 ― 이미지와 기억의 교차점’에서는 풍경으로 확장되는 그의 이미지 탐구를 살펴볼 수 있습니다.

그 중 〈f/11, 1/125, Natural Light〉 연작은 지도나 전시물을 바라보는 사람들의 뒷모습을 반복적으로 촬영하며, ‘관찰’이라는 행위의 구조 자체에 질문을 던집니다. 사진 속에는 관찰의 대상, 그것을 바라보는 인물, 이를 촬영하는 작가, 그리고 결과물을 바라보는 관람객이 차례로 등장합니다.

이러한 시선의 연쇄 속에서 관람객으로서 다시 한 번 그 관찰의 흐름 안에 참여해 보시기 바랍니다.

In the second section of Luigi Ghirri’s 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙚𝙨, titled ’Objects and Images 2 — The Intersection of Image and Memory‘, visitors are invited to explore his investigation of images as they unfold into landscapes.

Among these works, the series 𝘧/𝟣𝟣, 𝟣/𝟣𝟤𝟧, 𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘓𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 repeatedly captures the backs of people looking at maps or exhibition displays, posing questions about the very structure of the act of observation. Within the images appear the object being observed, the viewer facing it, the artist who photographs this scene, and finally the exhibition visitor who encounters the resulting image.

Within this chain of gazes, visitors are invited to once again take part in the flow of observation itself.

This month, we introduce 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘺 + 𝘊𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 Vol. 15, the journal published by the Museum Hanmi Research Center. This issue focuses on the exhibition spaces that hosted major photography exhibitions in the 1990s, exploring the process through which photography was incorporated into museums as a new exhibition medium and the significance of that shift.

In what kinds of spaces was photography exhibited, and how did those spaces reshape its status? By examining key venues such as the Sonje Museum of Contemporary Art in Gyeongju and Samsung Photo Gallery, this issue situates these exhibitions within the broader context of the history of Korean photography particularly in and around the 1990s.

A curator‘s talk for the solo exhibition 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙚𝙨 by Italian photographer Luigi Ghirri will be held.

This exhibition is a reconfiguration of the Luigi Ghirri exhibition originally curated by the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum. To offer a deeper understanding of the exhibition, we are inviting curator YAMADA Yuri, who curated the original exhibition, for a talk. We hope this will be an insightful opportunity to learn more about Luigi Ghirri and his artistic world. We look forward to your interest and participation.

《FROZEN GAZE》 전시 기간 동안 관람객 참여 프로그램 〈작가와 나의 일기장〉이 진행됩니다. 관람객은 조선희 작가가 직접 쓴 일기를 읽고, 미술관에 비치된 원고지에 각자의 이별에 대한 기억과 감정을 자유롭게 적어볼 수 있습니다.

작성된 일기장은 모두 아카이빙되어, 서로의 이야기가 연결되는 집단적 일기장을 형성합니다. 많은 참여 부탁드립니다.

* 해당 프로그램은 전시 기간 중 상시 운영됩니다.

During the exhibition 𝙁𝙍𝙊𝙕𝙀𝙉 𝙂𝘼𝙕𝙀, the participatory program 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘵’𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘔𝘺 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘳𝘺 is open to all visitors. Visitors are invited to read the personal diary written by ZO SUN HI and to write their own memories and feelings about farewell on manuscript paper provided in the museum.

All submitted diary pieces will be archived and create a collective diary that connects each participant’s story. We look forward to your participation.

뮤지엄한미는 이탈리아 컬러 사진의 선구자 루이지 기리(1943-1992)의 개인전 《Infinite Landscape》을 오는 2025년 12월 12일부터 2026년 3월 15일까지 삼청본관에서 개최합니다.

이번 전시는 도쿄도 사진미술관()이 기획한 전시를 바탕으로 재구성한 전시이며, 주한이탈리아대사관()과 함께 한국-이탈리아 수교 140주년을 기념해 마련되었습니다.

국내 관람객에게 이탈리아를 대표하는 사진가 루이지 기리의 작업 세계 전반을 처음으로 소개하는 자리입니다. 많은 관심 부탁드립니다.

Museum Hanmi will present 𝙄𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙚, a solo exhibition of Luigi Ghirri (1943–1992), a pioneer of Italian color photography, from December 12, 2025 to March 15, 2026, at Museum Hanmi Samcheong.

This exhibition is a newly adapted version of the show originally curated by the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum() and is held in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Korea() to commemorate the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Italy.

This is the first exhibition to introduce the full scope of Italian photographer Luigi Ghirri’s work to Korean audiences. We appreciate your interest and support.

이번 전시는 보도사진으로 세계적 명성을 쌓은 매그넘 포토스 작가들의 작품을 포토북이라는 형식을 통해 새롭게 조명합니다. 방문해주신 사진기자들의 시선과 매그넘 포토스 작가들의 작품이 던지는 울림이 함께 어우러지길 기대합니다.

전시는 10월 19일까지 이어집니다.

Members of the Korea Press Photographer‘s Association visited our museum. The perspectives of photojournalists, who capture the scene and convey the truth of the times, ultimately become records that testify to society and history.

This exhibition sheds new light on the works of Magnum Photos, the world-renowned collective of photojournalists, presented through the format of photobooks.
We hope the perspectives of the visiting photojournalists and the resonance of Magnum’s works come together in meaningful harmony.

The exhibition runs through October 19.

이번 달엔 뮤지엄한미 연구소의 15호 자료집 『한국사진사 구술프로젝트: 1990년대 주요 사진기획전』을 소개합니다.

1980년대 후반부터 사진은 본격적으로 미술관 제도 안으로 들어서며, 독립적인 예술 매체이자 현대미술의 주요 장르로 자리매김하기 시작했습니다. 특히 1988년 구본창( )이 기획한 《사진·새 시좌》 전시는 기존 리얼리즘에 머물렀던 사진계에 새로운 표현 가능성을 제시하며, 본격적인 ‘사진기획전의 시대’를 열었습니다.

Photography crossed the threshold of the museum, marking a turning point in the history of Korean photography.

This month, we are pleased to introduce the 15th publication of the Museum Hanmi Research Center, 𝘖𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘒𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘺: 𝘔𝘢𝘫𝘰𝘳 𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘌𝘹𝘩𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝟣𝟫𝟫𝟢𝘴.

From the late 1980s onward, photography became part of the museum system in earnest, establishing itself not only as an autonomous artistic medium but also as a central genre of contemporary art. In particular, the 1988 exhibition 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘞𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘺, curated by KOO Bohnchang, presented new possibilities beyond the prevailing realism of the time and marked the beginning of the era of curated photography exhibitions in Korea.

사진이 미술관의 문턱을 넘으며, 한국사진사의 전환점이 열렸습니다.

이번 달엔 뮤지엄한미 연구소의 15호 자료집 『한국사진사 구술프로젝트: 1990년대 주요 사진기획전』을 소개합니다.

1980년대 후반부터 사진은 본격적으로 미술관 제도 안으로 들어서며, 독립적인 예술 매체이자 현대미술의 주요 장르로 자리매김하기 시작했습니다. 특히 1988년 구본창( )이 기획한 《사진·새 시좌》 전시는 기존 리얼리즘에 머물렀던 사진계에 새로운 표현 가능성을 제시하며, 본격적인 ‘사진기획전의 시대’를 열었습니다.

Photography crossed the threshold of the museum, marking a turning point in the history of Korean photography.

This month, we are pleased to introduce the 15th publication of the Museum Hanmi Research Center, 𝘖𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘏𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘒𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘺: 𝘔𝘢𝘫𝘰𝘳 𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘌𝘹𝘩𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝟣𝟫𝟫𝟢𝘴.

From the late 1980s onward, photography became part of the museum system in earnest, establishing itself not only as an autonomous artistic medium but also as a central genre of contemporary art. In particular, the 1988 exhibition 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘦𝘸 𝘞𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘺, curated by KOO Bohnchang, presented new possibilities beyond the prevailing realism of the time and marked the beginning of the era of curated photography exhibitions in Korea.
