첫 유근영 작가님 작업실에서 느낀 전율은 25년 전 메트로폴리탄에서 첨 본 반고호 전시에 느꼈던 강도와 차이가 없다.

The thrill I felt at artist Yoo keun young's studio years ago is no different in intensity from the Van Gogh exhibition I first saw at the Metropolitan 25 years ago.

ㅡ 작가노트 ㅡ

나는 하나의 소금, 굴껍질, 조개껍질, 고동껍질이다. 또 하나의 나는 생명이 있는 해조류이다. 그리고 또 하나의 나는 의식이 있는 바다이고 파동이며, 바람이고 우주이다. 나는 호기심 가득한 눈과 기쁨으로 생명의 삶과 자유를 탐구하며 또 자유를 누린다. 그리고 순수의식에서 발현되는 정체성으로 나의 예술은 실재와 실제를 메타포적인 조형으로 드러내는 놀이를 추구한다.

조형표현은 현대미술이 추구했던 본질의 정신성과 삶을 향한 표현의 다양성을 인지하며, 그 너머의 타력과 파동을 결합한다. 생명과 시간의 흔적들이 고스란히 남겨져 있는 자연의 소재와 동시대의 사람들의 사연이 담겨져 있는 재료들을 활용하여, 현시대의 예술과 삶과 내 자아와 인간의 가치관에 대한 지향점을 질문으로 표현된다.

I am a person of one salt, oyster shell, shell, horn shell. Another I am a seaweed with life. And another I am a person of sea of consciousness, the wave, the wind, and the universe. With curious eyes and joy, I explore the life and freedom of life and enjoy freedom. And with the identity expressed in pure consciousness, my art pursues a play that reveals reality and reality in a metaphorical form.

The formative expression recognizes the spirituality of the essence pursued by contemporary art and the diversity of expressions toward life, and combines the other forces and waves. Using nature‘s materials that leave the traces of life and time intact and materials containing the stories of contemporary people, the direction of contemporary art and life, my self, and human values is expressed as a question.
