스페이스K는 2011년에 설립된 코오롱의 문화예술 나눔공간 입니다. 깊이 있는 문화예술 지원과 지역민을 위한 문화예술 나눔을 목표로 운영하고 있습니다. 스페이스K는 예술가의 전시 지원을 통해 창작력을 고취 시키고, 지역민들에게 수준 높은 전시로 예술나눔 실천을 위해 노력하고 있습니다. Setting forth initiative to support art and aiming to share with local community, Kolon group is introducing Space K, a non-profit gallery. Space K strives to focus on creativity of artists and present innovative and distinguished contents for the community.

한–프랑스 수교 140주년 기념 ‘페트 드 라 뮈지크(Fête de la Musique)’ 프로그램이 스페이스K 서울에서도 진행됩니다.🌏💿

‘페트 드 라 뮈지크’는 프랑스에서 시작된 글로벌 음악축제로. 올해 한국에서는 한-프랑스 수교 140주년을 맞아 6월 한 달간 전국 각지에서 진행됩니다.

스페이스K는 글로벌 여성 여행자 커뮤니티 NomadHer과 함께합니다.《맨디 엘-사예: 테레사, 이후》 전시와 연계한 이번 특별한 저녁은 여성, 이주, 다양성의 이야기를 미술과 음악을 통해 나누는 자리로 마련됩니다.

In commemoration of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France, Space K Seoul will host a special program for the ”Fête de la Musique.“

Originating in France, the ”Fête de la Musique“ is a global music festival. To celebrate this diplomatic milestone, various commemorative events will take place across South Korea throughout June. For this event, Space K Seoul is partnering with NomadHer, a global community for female travelers. Held in conjunction with our current exhibition, , this program is designed to explore and share narratives of women, migration, and diversity through art and music.

Net-Grid (Blessing)
The artwork weaves together symbols from different cultural backgrounds, such as the evil eye, Yaksha, joss paper, and keffiyeh patterns.

These motifs embody protective and auspicious meanings—warding off misfortune, guarding boundaries, and bringing good fortune. By layering and interweaving various images and patterns within a single picture plane, the artist constructs a complex visual language. Within the work, these symbols from diverse histories and cultures expand into a unified layer of ‘blessing’ and ‘protection.’

작품 속에는 악마의 눈, 수호신, 지전, 케피예 문양 등 서로 다른 문화권의 상징들이 등장합니다.

이 모티프들은 액운을 막고, 경계를 지키며, 행운과 복을 기원하는 의미를 지닙니다.
작가는 다양한 이미지와 패턴을 한 화면 안에 겹치고 연결하며 복합적인 시각 언어를 만들어 내고, 서로 다른 역사와 문화의 상징들은 작품 안에서 하나의 ‘축복’과 ‘보호’의 층위로 확장됩니다.

[작품 소개]
Figured Ground

El-Sayegh has spread out newspapers across the floor and poured latex over them. A newspaper is a concrete record of the day’s events and also a medium that is quickly consumed and just as quickly discarded. The latex spreads thinly across the surface like the human skin, suturing the texts and images of the newspaper—materials that would otherwise disappear with the passing of the day—into a single membrane.

Mandy El-Sayegh does not confine her paintings to a two-dimensional plane on the wall. Instead, she extends them across the floor, the walls, and the architecture of the space, treating the entire environment as if it were a living organism or a body. In this final gallery, the artist transforms the space into an immersive site meant to be experienced physically and sensorially.

작가는 바닥에 신문을 깔고 그 위에 라텍스를 붓습니다. 신문은 오늘의 사건과 정보가 기록된 분명한 증거물이지만, 동시에 쉽게 소비되고 금세 사라져 버리는 매체이기도 합니다. 라텍스는 그 위에 마치 사람의 피부처럼 얇게 퍼져, 오늘이 지나면 사라질 신문의 텍스트와 이미지를 하나의 막으로 봉합합니다.

맨디 엘-사예는 회화를 벽에 걸린 평면의 이미지로 한정하지 않습니다. 바닥과 벽, 건축적 구조까지 영역을 확장하며, 공간 전체를 마치 살아 숨 쉬는 하나의 유기물이나 신체처럼 다뤄왔습니다. 이번 전시의 마지막 공간 역시, 관람자가 몸소 경험하는 현장으로 탈바꿈시킵니다.

📹5월 17일 진행된 어린이 프로그램 현장을 공개합니다
진지한 태도로 작품을 감상하고, 각자의 개성을 살려 엽서를 완성하는 아이들의 모습이 인상적이었습니다.✨

뜨거운 성원에 힘입어 5/24(일), 5/31(일) 두 차례 추가 회차를 진행합니다.

작품을 감상하고, 다양한 이미지를 오리고 붙이며
세상에 하나뿐인 나만의 콜라주 엽서를 완성하는 시간입니다.

보호자분들께는 전시 입장권 할인을 제공해드리며(8,000원→5,000원)
오전 11시 진행되는 전시 해설을 들으실 수 있습니다. 아이들이 활동을 마친 후 함께 전시를 감상해보세요.

[버닝스퀘어]
Burning Square captures the dual realities of the world we inhabit. Here, the artist enlarges a spread from the Financial Times dated October 9, 2023. On one page appears the devastating news of war and conflict, while on the opposite page a glamorous advertisement for Tiffany & Co. diamonds unfolds.

Within the composition, the color red carries conflicting meanings. For some, it symbolizes wealth and fortune; for others, it evokes the painful imagery of blood and bodily wounds. By bringing together symbols of capital and power—such as banknotes, newspapers, and advertisements—the artist poses a question to the viewer: how is it that, at the very moment when some are left in suffering, others are able to continue consuming with such indifference?

작업은 우리가 살아가는 이중적인 현실을 포착합니다. 작가는 2023년 10월 9일 자 파이낸셜 타임스의 지면을 함께 보여줍니다. 앞면에는 참혹한 전쟁과 분쟁의 소식이, 뒷면에는 화려한 티파니앤코 다이아몬드 광고가 실려 있습니다.
화면 속 붉은색은 누군가에겐 부와 행운의 상징이지만, 다른 누군가에게는 고통스러운 피와 신체의 상처로 여겨지기도 합니다. 작가는 지폐와 신문, 광고 등 자본과 권력의 상징물을 한데 모아놓고 우리에게 묻습니다. 누군가가 고통 속에 방치되는 순간에, 또다른 이는 어떻게 그토록 무심히 소비를 즐길 수 있는지 질문을 던집니다.

[Psychic Self-Defence]
This installation combines various media, including painting, video, clothing, and text. It explores the concept of self-defence, extending it beyond the physical dimension into mental and cultural realms.

On one side of the space, garments reminiscent of training uniforms are displayed, while phrases containing various thoughts and voices are inscribed on the walls and floors. Through this, the artist visually unfolds the diverse methods and attitudes that individuals and communities have developed to protect themselves.

[심리적 자기 방어]
회화, 영상, 의복, 텍스트 등 다양한 매체가 결합된 설치 작업입니다.

이 작품은 ‘자기 방어’라는 개념을 신체적인 차원을 넘어, 정신적이고 문화적인 영역까지 확장하여 탐구합니다. 공간 한편에는 수련복을 연상시키는 의상이 배치되어 있으며, 벽면과 바닥에는 다양한 사유와 목소리를 담은 문장들이 자리하고 있습니다.

이를 통해 작가는 개인과 공동체가 스스로를 지키기 위해 형성해 온 다양한 방식과 태도를 시각적으로 풀어냅니다.
