On April 12, 1980, Liberia experienced a turning point in its history. The 1980 Liberian coup d'état led by Samuel K. Doe ended the long rule of the True Whig Party and changed the nation’s political path forever.
A day that reshaped Liberia—never to be forgotten.

The resilience of citizens to defend their motherland is often a sign of strong national identity and patriotism. When people feel deeply connected to their country, they are more willing to stand up for its sovereignty, peace, and territorial integrity.

In the case of Liberia, many citizens historically see the nation as “Mama Liberia”, a symbolic way of expressing love and responsibility toward the country. When there are tensions or threats such as disputes or misunderstandings with neighboring countries like Guinea the reaction of citizens often reflects:

Patriotism People feel a duty to protect their homeland.
Unity National challenges can bring citizens together beyond politics or tribe.
Historical pride Liberia has a long history of independence in Africa, which strengthens citizens’ sense of ownership.

Civil responsibility Defending the nation does not only mean fighting; it also includes promoting peace, supporting national institutions, and protecting communities.

However, resilience is most effective when it is guided by discipline, lawful authority, and diplomacy. Border issues between neighboring countries are usually best handled by government leadership, diplomatic negotiations, and regional bodies like ECOWAS, rather than uncontrolled civilian confrontation.

So the strongest message of resilience for Liberia would be:
Citizens standing united, supporting peace, respecting the law, and remaining ready to protect their nation if legitimately called upon.

The Story: Built in 1947 to celebrate Liberia’s 100th year of independence. This is where almost every Liberian President has been inaugurated.

It’s also the burial site of William V.S. Tubman, the longest-serving president.

LIBERIA & U.S. VISA UPDATE 🇱🇷🇺🇸

The visa restrictions announced by the U.S. government apply only to immigration visas that is, for people seeking to live permanently in the United States (green card applicants).

Visitor visas and student visas (B1/B2) are NOT affected by these measures.

This is simply part of the U.S. government’s routine immigration status review.
Let’s stop spreading fear or wishing bad news on our country.

Pray and speak well for Mama Liberia 🙏

📜 Grand Bassa County: A Story of Strength and Renewal
Did you know?

Grand Bassa County is home to one of Liberia’s most powerful stories of resilience. In 1832, freed African Americans founded Port Cresson along the St. John River, seeking freedom and a new beginning.
Though the settlement was destroyed in 1835, the people did not give up. They returned, rebuilt, and renamed the town Bassa Cove, later known as Buchanan.
From hardship rose a thriving port city today a symbol of endurance, cultural blending, and progress. Grand Bassa’s history reminds us that setbacks do not end a people’s journey; courage and unity rewrite the future.

Grand Bassa County where Liberia’s resilience lives. 🇱🇷
