Today, we pause to honour the service, sacrifice and quiet strength of all who have served and those who continue to carry that legacy. 🇬🇧

🇲🇹❤️ Childhood in Malta was a very different world.

We did things, played games and lived in ways that would probably leave today’s kids completely baffled! 😂

What’s something from YOUR Maltese childhood that kids today would never understand?

I have a feeling the comments on this one are going to bring back some wonderful memories… 👇❤️🇲🇹

THEY CAME FROM EVERY CORNER OF THESE ISLANDS 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁮󠁩󠁲󠁿🇬🇧

In the First World War, brave men answered the call from the four corners of these islands.

From the Highlands to the Lowlands.
From East to West.
From the Scottish Borders into Cumbria and Northumberland.
From Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen.
From Cardiff, Swansea and Newport.
From Belfast, Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway.
From Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Sheffield.
From London, Birmingham, Bristol and Nottingham.
From Newcastle, Sunderland, Hull and Middlesbrough.
From Plymouth, Portsmouth, Southampton and Exeter.

Men from cities, towns, villages, farms, fishing communities and mining communities stood together.

They wore different regimental badges. They spoke with different accents. They came from different walks of life.

But when their country called, they stood together.

They crossed the Channel and travelled across the world to defend their families, their homes and the freedoms they believed were worth fighting for.

They were Scots. Irish. Welsh. English - British.

Above all, they were brothers in arms.

More than a century later, we should remember not only where they came from — but how they came together.

🌺 Lest We Forget 🌺

🌺🇬🇧 Today, we mark the anniversary of VE Day — the day millions of people across Britain and around the world celebrated the end of war in Europe.

On 8 May 1945, streets filled with people gathering together in relief, remembrance and hope for the future. Communities came together to celebrate peace after years of sacrifice, uncertainty and loss. Families reunited, church bells rang out, music played and people danced in the streets as the news spread across the country.

But alongside the celebrations was reflection for those who never returned home, and for the lives forever changed by war.

As we remember VE Day today, we honour those who served and the strength of the communities that stood beside them through extraordinary times.

Their legacy continues to shape the world we live in today. 🌺
