For many, this hall is a childhood staple. But have you ever wondered why we preserve this hall in much the same way it looked 30 years ago?

The Joseph Baldacchino Hall at Għar Dalam is one of the last authentic Victorian-style displays left in Europe. In the modern era, it is not just showcasing rows of bones, it functions as a 'museum of a museum.' It shows us a time when aesthetics and symmetry were the priority, offering us a window into how heritage was curated in the past.

While modern displays focus on interactive education, we preserve this hall as a tribute to the site history itself.

Ħannewija in bloom 🌿
Acanthus mollis is an indigenous species native to the Mediterranean, and one of the oldest ornamental plants still grown today. Its leaves famously inspired classical Corinthian column designs. It actually prefers disturbed soil and rain, which explains the timing of its blooms after our bout of stormy weather!
