Valentina Biasetti, born in Parma (1979), studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, where she graduated with honours in 2005. Since 2002, she has been actively exhibiting in private galleries and public spaces, and has been selected as a finalist for major national and international art prizes and art fairs.
Her artistic research develops as an inquiry into the progressive loss of identity of figures and represented objects in relation to the space that surrounds them. Solids and voids become the core of an imagined dialogue unfolding within an almost surreal, mute and silent dimension: a suspended, timeless space that presents itself as a place of Absence.
Drawing is the artistโs primary medium, which she conceives as a surgical instrument for probing into things, seeking to pe*****te them in order to overturn their substance. Pencil lines interweave within an abyss of graphite; fields, reflections and traces of stories take shape, acquiring body and weight in a liminal zone between the tangible and the invisible.
Among her most significant recent activities (2024โ2025) are solo presentations at major Italian art fairs, including Artefiera Bologna with Galleria Quam; the solo exhibition La carne delle nubi at UMA Gallery, Novara; the solo exhibition Si sogna prima di contemplare at Galleria QUAM, Scicli, curated by Alberto Mattia Martini; and the production of the artistโs book Alle Sette Sotto la Luna, published by CichinoBrigante.
Her principal past solo and group exhibitions include shows at Zaion Gallery (Biella), The Blender Gallery (Athens), Pinacoteca di Varallo and Museo di Varallo (VC), Galleria Cartavetra (Florence), Galleria Gare82 (Brescia), and No Title Gallery (Venice).
