Acts 8:1b-8

There broke out a severe persecution of the Church in Jerusalem,
and all were scattered
throughout the countryside of Judea and Samaria,
except the Apostles.

Devout men buried Stephen and made a loud lament over him.
Saul, meanwhile, was trying to destroy the Church;
entering house after house and dragging out men and women,
he handed them over for imprisonment.

Now those who had been scattered went about preaching the word.

Thus Philip went down to the city of Samaria
and proclaimed the Christ to them.

With one accord, the crowds paid attention to what was said by Philip
when they heard it and saw the signs he was doing.
For unclean spirits, crying out in a loud voice,
came out of many possessed people,
and many paralyzed and crippled people were cured.
There was great joy in that city.

R./ Let all the earth cry out to God with joy.

Shout joyfully to God, all the earth,
sing praise to the glory of his name;
proclaim his glorious praise.

Say to God, "How tremendous are your deeds!"

R./ Let all the earth cry out to God with joy.

or: Alleluia.

"Let all on earth worship and sing praise to you,
sing praise to your name!"
Come and see the works of God,
his tremendous deeds among the children of Adam.

R./ Let all the earth cry out to God with joy.

Let your face shine upon your servant;

Writing Straight with Crooked Lines...

The believing people—accumulating experience, observing the actions of both God and humanity—have coined this saying:

“God writes straight
with crooked lines.”

It is not right to endure punishment and persecution. It is not right that Saul should rage against the early Church, dragging Christian men and women off to prison... these are the crooked lines.

Yet, through them, God is capable of bringing about good works; He is capable of writing the story of the liberating message of Jesus spreading far beyond the confines of Jerusalem. Many Christians are forced to flee the “fire.”

The result is a beautiful script.

“As they went from place to place, the fugitives spread the Good News.”

Since what they were spreading was something capable of filling the human heart, the same thing happened time and again:

“The city was filled with joy.”

A Great Hope:

God Desires Our Resurrection

How many false images of God have we created for ourselves—images we have disseminated, and which have taken root in so many hearts!

One of the most pernicious distortions of the true face of God is to view Him as a stern Judge, with hands perpetually raised to punish us. We must always turn to Jesus—the true image of God—so that He may reveal to us, in truth, what God is like: His Father, and our Father.

In today’s Gospel, Jesus is crystal clear:

“This is the will of the One who sent Me:

That I should lose nothing of what He gave Me,
but that I should raise it up on the last day.”

A Great Fear:

Our Folly

No, never—in light of God’s tender and fatherly mercy toward all of us, His children—should we fear Him. His arms remain ever open to welcome and embrace us. The only ones we need fear are ourselves.

We may commit the folly of rejecting a great treasure; we may commit the folly of rejecting Jesus and all that He offers us.

To Saint Paul—once converted—it was simply inconceivable that anyone could reject such light, such love:

“O foolish Galatians!

Who has bewitched you,

before whose very eyes

Jesus Christ was portrayed as crucified?”

Jesus Himself laments today with sorrow:

“You have seen, yet you do not believe.”

🙌 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬,
𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮,

📖Do you understand what you are reading?

This passage serves as a vivid example of how we ought to evangelize today:

In his latest Apostolic Exhortation, *Verbum Domini*, the Pope calls to mind a phrase from his predecessor—now Blessed—John Paul II:

“We must proclaim the Gospel
to those who do not yet know it; yet, in our
society, there are many Christians—
baptized individuals—who have
not been adequately evangelized.”

The reception of the sacraments is of paramount importance; they are the channels through which we receive the grace that Christ won for us. However, if we do not grasp the value of this grace, we resemble someone who possesses a precious pearl yet remains unaware of its immense worth—and, consequently, fails to appreciate it.

Like Philip, we must remain attentive to the spiritual inquiries of others in order to effectively reach those with whom we converse:

He... begins by engaging with the eu**ch’s own interests, thereby leading him to a knowledge of Christ. He helps him interpret the Old Testament in the light of the Christ-event—the very center and culmination of Sacred Scripture. He proclaims the message with enthusiasm, wins over the eu**ch, and places no obstacles in his path when the latter requests to be baptized.

Let us never tire of proclaiming Christ—both through our words and through our lives.

“I am the living bread that came down from heaven.”

Christ invites everyone to His table; He is the Bread of Life that has come down from heaven—the only way to reach the Father.

However, to draw near to Him, we need the strength of the Spirit, who has been given to us and continues to work within us.

Christ—the Eternal Word who has dwelt with God from the beginning—came down from heaven to give us life: His very own life, by giving us His flesh to eat and His blood to drink. He contrasts this nourishment with the manna eaten in the desert, noting that those who ate it eventually died; yet, whoever eats His flesh and drinks His blood will not die, for He bestows upon us His own life—eternal life. The Eucharist serves as a pledge of our future resurrection.

The Risen Christ invites us to rise again with Him.

All people are invited to the banquet of the Eucharist—to rise again with Christ—yet not everyone is aware of this invitation. For this reason, the evangelization of all peoples is a matter of urgency, so that they may come to know Christ—the one and only Way, Truth, and Life.

Introduction

The fervor of the young Church is so contagious, that even in persecution Christians use the occasion of the persecution itself to preach the risen Christ. Indeed, God does not abandon the Church, even in moments of trial. The reading from Acts says that there was even great joy over the signs of the Lord’s presence.

There is also a great joy in the Gospel where we hear Jesus says that he is our bread of life: not only will he later give himself as bread to eat, but his word and message are for us real bread of life, something to live by and to live for.

Opening
Prayer

God, our Father,
you are our faithful God,
even in days of trial for the Church
and for each of us personally;
you stay by our side,
even if we are not aware of your presence.
Give us an unlimited trust in you
and make us ever more aware
that your Son Jesus is the meaning of our lives
and that he nourishes us with himself,
today and every day, forever.

General
Intercessions

– That by the way they live their faith, Christians may show the beauty and joy of the message of Christ to those who seek, we pray:

– That the Church may accept people the way they are and not drive them away because of mistakes, we pray:

– That we may all be open-handed to many who are hungry today for food and love, we pray:

Prayer
over the Gifts

Our faithful God,
you are our God of the covenant.
Make us understand the covenant more deeply
as your lasting commitment to us
at your own initiative.

In these signs of bread and wine,
allow us to express that we too,
want to be faithful to you not only
in moments of happiness and joy
but also when we are groping in the dark.

We ask you this through Christ, our Lord.

₊˚.ೃ࿔*:・⋆⋆✨🐑 ₊˚

Prayer
after Communion

Our faithful God,
we rejoice that in your Son, Jesus,
and his message of life,
you have given us something
and someone to live for.

Thank you very much for making him
our bread of life,
who will never drive us away
but will keep accepting us
and making us grow in his life
until it blossoms forth in eternal life.

All thanks through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Acts of the Apostles 2:14, 22-33

Then Peter stood up with the Eleven,
raised his voice, and proclaimed:

“You who are Jews, indeed all of you staying in Jerusalem.
Let this be known to you and listen to my words.
You who are Israelites, hear these words.
Jesus the Nazarene was a man commended to you by God
with mighty deeds, wonders, and signs,
which God worked through him in your midst, as you yourselves know.

This man, delivered up by the set plan and foreknowledge of God,
you killed, using lawless men to crucify him.
But God raised him up, releasing him from the throes of death,
because it was impossible for him to be held by it.

For David says of him:

‘I saw the Lord ever before me,
with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed.
Therefore my heart has been glad and my tongue has exulted;
my flesh, too, will dwell in hope,
because you will not abandon my soul to the netherworld,
nor will you suffer your holy one to see corruption.
You have made known to me the paths of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence.’

“My brothers, one can confidently say to you
about the patriarch David that he died and was buried,
and his tomb is in our midst to this day.

But since he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn an oath to him
that he would set one of his descendants upon his throne,
he foresaw and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ,
that neither was he abandoned to the netherworld
nor did his flesh see corruption.
God raised this Jesus;
of this we are all witnesses.

Exalted at the right hand of God,
he received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father
and poured him forth, as you see and hear.”

🙏..。Psalm 16:1-2, 5, 7-8, 9-10, 11.

R./ Lord, you will show us the path of life.

or: Alleluia.

Keep me, O God, for in you I take refuge;
I say to the LORD, “My LORD are you.”
O LORD, my allotted portion and my cup,
you it is who hold fast my lot.

R./ Lord, you will show us the path of life.

or: Alleluia.

I bless the LORD who counsels me;
even in the night my heart exhorts me.
I set the LORD ever before me;
with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed.

R./ Lord, you will show us the path of life.

or: Alleluia.

Therefore my heart is glad and my soul rejoices,
my body, too, abides in confidence;
because you will not abandon my soul to the netherworld,
nor will you suffer your faithful one to undergo corruption.

R./ Lord, you will show us the path of life.

or: Alleluia.

You will show me the path to life,
abounding joy in your presence,
the delights at your right hand forever.

R./ Lord, you will show us the path of life. :∞♡*

1 Saint Peter 1:17-21

Beloved:

If you invoke as Father him who judges impartially
according to each one’s works,
conduct yourselves with reverence during the time of your sojourning,
realizing that you were ransomed from your futile conduct,
handed on by your ancestors,
not with perishable things like silver or gold
but with the precious blood of Christ
as of a spotless unblemished lamb.

He was known before the foundation of the world
but revealed in the final time for you,
who through him believe in God
who raised him from the dead and gave him glory,
so that your faith and hope are in God.

or Alleluia.....:∞♡*🙏

🙏 Luke 24:13-35

That very day, the first day of the week,
two of Jesus’ disciples were going
to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus,
and they were conversing about all the things that had occurred.
And it happened that while they were conversing and debating,
Jesus himself drew near and walked with them,
but their eyes were prevented from recognizing him.

He asked them,

“What are you discussing as you walk along?”
They stopped, looking downcast.
One of them, named Cleopas, said to him in reply,

“Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem
who does not know of the things
that have taken place there in these days?”

And he replied to them,

“What sort of things?”

They said to him,

“The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene,
who was a prophet mighty in deed and word
before God and all the people,
how our chief priests and rulers both handed him over
to a sentence of death and crucified him.

But we were hoping that he would be the one to redeem Israel;
and besides all this,
it is now the third day since this took place.

Some women from our group, however, have astounded us:
they were at the tomb early in the morning
and did not find his body;
they came back and reported
that they had indeed seen a vision of angels
who announced that he was alive.
Then some of those with us went to the tomb
and found things just as the women had described,
but him they did not see.”

And he said to them,

“Oh, how foolish you are!
How slow of heart to believe
all that the prophets spoke!
Was it not necessary that the Christ
should suffer these things
and enter into his glory?”

Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets,
he interpreted to them what referred to him
in all the Scriptures.
As they approached the village to which they were going,
he gave the impression that he was going on farther.

But they urged him,

“Stay with us,
for it is nearly evening
and the day is almost over.”

So he went in to stay with them.
And it happened that, while he was with them at table,
he took bread, said the blessing,
broke it, and gave it to them.
With that their eyes were opened and they recognized him,
but he vanished from their sight.

Then they said to each other,

“Were not our hearts burning within us
while he spoke to us on the way and opened the Scriptures to us?”

So they set out at once and returned to Jerusalem
where they found gathered together
the eleven and those with them who were saying,

“The Lord has truly been raised
and has appeared to Simon!”

Then the two recounted
what had taken place on the way
and how he was made known to them
in the breaking of bread.🙏
