¡ESCÁNDALO! — TBQA PRIDE 2026

What if joy was not soft?
¿Y si el gozo no fuera algo suave?

What if loving the body became a form of refusal?

This iteration centers the work of Adam David Bencomo, whose practice holds the body as visible, desiring, playful, and unapologetic. In his images, joy does not arrive as decoration. It arrives as resistance—especially for bodies taught to shrink, hide, or apologize for taking up space.

— TBQA PRIDE 2026

What if masculinity was never stable to begin with?

What if it only survived through repetition?

This iteration centers the work of Manuel Parra, whose practice unsettles inherited ideas of masculinity through desire, contradiction, language, and embodiment. His work loosens the rigid borders around what a man is supposed to be—allowing vulnerability, multiplicity, and discomfort to occupy the same space.

What if desire was never the thing that needed hiding?

What if shame was only the language wrapped around it?

This iteration centers the work of Juanjo Sierra, whose practice drifts between the erotic and the cosmic—where memory, fantasy, aliens, touch, and play become tools for survival and self-construction. His imagined worlds are not escapes from reality, but ways of surviving it.

What if identity was never fixed?
¿Y si la identidad nunca fue fija?

What if the images that shaped you could also be dismantled?

This iteration centers the work of Ivan Barrera, whose practice moves through advertising, pop aesthetics, migration, and fractured belonging—turning inherited systems back onto themselves until their authority begins to collapse.

— TBQA PRIDE 2026

Not every break is loud.
Some things shift slowly—until you realize you were never alone inside them.

This iteration centers Anastasia Shik, whose work resists the idea of a singular rupture. Instead, it moves through the everyday—through family, through time, through the quiet responsibility of being with others. What emerges is not a personal story alone, but a shared condition: fragile, complex, and held together in the act of living.

Opening at Centro Cultural El Rule, in the center of CDMX—where bodies, histories, and encounters refuse containment.

¡ESCÁNDALO! — TBQA PRIDE 2026

¿Y si la masculinidad no fuera algo fijo?
What if masculinity was never fixed?

What if it was something learned—and therefore something that could be transformed?

This iteration confronts masculinity as structure: a set of repeated gestures inherited and enforced over time. But inside that rigidity exists another possibility—vulnerability, tenderness, and intimacy as forms of resistance against control.

¡ESCÁNDALO! — TBQA PRIDE 2026

The image doesn’t disappear.
It turns.

This iteration centers the work of Iván Barrera, where advertising, pop, and inherited visual systems are not rejected—but dismantled from within. What once constructed the body begins to fracture under its own repetition.

For the post, keep it close to the body of the work. Not selling access, but naming what access actually does:

There’s a difference between making work alone and letting it be met.

COLLECTIVO is THE space.

Each month, we hold a critique session through InResidency—an intentional room where artists bring work into focus. Not for approval. Not for performance. For clarity.

You can enter that room in two ways:
You show up to look, to respond, to sharpen how you speak about work that isn’t yours.
Or you place your own work inside it—and let it be read.

Not every piece is ready for that. Not every moment is.

We select artists for critique based on where the work is and how it’s being held. The goal isn’t to cycle through as many voices as possible. The goal is to make the time matter.

This is part of what COLLECTIVO supports:
A structure where your work doesn’t disappear into the scroll.
A space where it can be questioned, pushed, and clarified.

If you’ve been working in isolation, you already know what’s missing.

Join COLLECTIVO. Links in Bio or BureauQ***rArt.com

it’s about recognizing your own within them.

We are taught to look at difference as distance.
To stand outside. To categorize.

These works come from Q***r experience. They are specific. They are living.
A quedarnos afuera. A clasificar.

¡Escándalo! asks something else.

Don’t look for what makes this work different from you.
Look for where it touches your own life.

These works come from Q***r experience. They are specific. They are lived.
But they do not end there.

Las obras parten de experiencias Q***r. Son específicas. Son vividas.
Pero no terminan ahí.

They open.
They wait for you to enter.

Se abren.
Esperan que entres.

That moment—when you stop looking at the work and find yourself inside it—

That is the escándalo.

Ese es el escándalo.

We are taught to see each other as different—to label, to separate, to keep distance.

¡Escándalo! breaks that.
¡Escándalo! rompe eso.

The works in this exhibition come from Q***r lives. They come from the artists’ own experiences. But they are not only for Q***r people.

You do not need to identify as Q***r to be here. You only need to look—and recognize something of your own life in what you see.

These artists work from vulnerability. They put their lives into the work without explaining them. Not to be compared. Not to be categorized. But to be encountered.

At some point, you may see yourself in what is in front of you.

That is the escándalo.
Ese es el escándalo.

Not that we are different—
but that we were taught to believe we are separate.
