Mex Meds, Opals & Folk Art is owned by Ricardo and Netsanet and has been established since 1998. They began opal mining when Ricardo, 15 years ago headed to the state of Queretaro in the search of the Fire Opal. He quickly fell in love with opals, which unsurprisingly spread to Netsanet years later while he meet her in Ethiopia during a gemhunt trip. The whole family are now bona fide opal lovers,

so much so that althought they live in Cozumel, still own an Opal License and open office in Addis Ababa Ethiopia, and visit the plateou often to source outstanding Opals. Ricardo also have old friends mining matrix opal from central Mexico, where amazing boulder and fire opal can be found. He also started selling online some of the finest Mexican FolkArt from Oaxaca where he contacted with some FolkArt masters since 1999. Opals & Folk Art is a fairtrade advocate shop.
