Opening Time travels, Penang State Museum reopens with a new look through technology by hearing the echoes of time through the interplay of light, shadow and technology
Following a nine-year, RM18 million renovation and upgrading project, the Penang State Museum, a repository of Penang's historical and cultural memory, has reopened to the public with a brand-new look. The museum features 15 exhibition areas showcasing approximately 1,200 historical artifacts and incorporates artificial intelligence, multimedia interactive installations, AR applications, and digital interactive experiences. These transform a cultural landmark that has witnessed the city's development from a static space for collecting historical artifacts and displaying exhibits into a modern museum that integrates interactive experiences, community connections, cultural dialogue and education to become an important window for showcasing Penang's cultural heritage to the world.
After its reopening, The Penang State Museum has adopted a brand-new curatorial concept, by integrating artificial intelligence, multimedia interactive installations and local aesthetics into its exhibitions. This has given the history, which was originally static in the display cases, new sound, images, and warmth, and allowed it to be seen in a way that is closer to modern people.
