VOX: ARTIST SPOTLIGHTS

Frank Bowling and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye are two influential artists shaping global contemporary art through distinct yet powerful styles.

Bowling’s abstract works explore memory, migration, and identity through layered color and materials, while Yiadom-Boakye’s figurative paintings present imagined Black subjects in timeless, introspective moments.

Though different in approach, both artists challenge traditional narratives and expand the representation of Black identity—using art as a space for freedom, imagination, and global dialogue.

For the price of a dinner in Paris, somebody will soon walk away with a Picasso valued at more than $1 million.

The "1 Picasso for 100 euros" raffle offers entrants the chance to take home the artist's 1941 gouache "Tête de Femme." The price of a ticket is — as the name of the contest suggests — 100 euros, or about $116.

Amebo!!! sparks a different kind of nostalgic feeling.
It brings back memories of lively compounds, neighborhood benches, and whispered conversations that somehow everyone already knew.

The word often reminds people of playful teasing, community bonding, and the harmless gossip that kept everyone connected.

Hearing “amebo” can take you back to evenings when laughter filled the air, stories travelled faster than the wind, and no news stayed hidden for long.

It’s a word wrapped in humor, familiarity, and the vibrant social life of growing up.
