Work Highlight | Marcos Kueh 🧶
By filtering religion through the lens of advertising, Marcos Kueh critiques the commodification of faith and identity. His tapestries play with irony, nostalgia, and sincerity, revealing how visual culture can both construct and obscure meaning. Kueh’s work ultimately questions what it means to belong in a world shaped by colonial histories, migration, and global capitalism.
Kueh is a textile artist from the Island of Borneo, with a professional background in Graphic Design and Advertising. Many of Kueh’s textile works are explorations and speculations of the traditional meaning of the craft in the contemporary context.
