Elliott Gallery (formerly Gallery Vassie) was established in 2003, in the centre of Amsterdam & is located in the historic arches under the railway tracks that lead to Amsterdam Centrum. We offer an exciting exhibition program alongside a ‘print room’ style set up where clients, photography experts & enthusiasts can make an appointment to come & browse the collection on site. Representing a divers

e stable of photographic artists, from well-known & established photographers, from the late 19th & early 20th centuries, to contemporary artists. All of our photographers have exhibited internationally & have their work included in key museum, corporate & private collections around the globe. Our ongoing philosophy is to continue to introduce a diversity of world renowned, critically acclaimed photographers alongside lesser-known gems, from the international photography community to The Netherlands. Also, why not make use of our creative, inspiring environment for your next meeting or private party? Our space is available for day long or hourly off-site meetings, private dining, fundraisers etc… We are happy to cater any event, from a simple working breakfast to a sit down 5 course dinner. Wishing the legendary photographer Gered Mankowitz a very happy birthday! 🎉

Today we're celebrating his extraordinary legacy with a selection of our favourite iconic portraits of Mick Jagger, Jimi Hendrix and Marianne Faithfull.

From the 1970s onwards, Mankowitz captured many of the defining figures of the music world, including Kate Bush and Elton John. Throughout the 1980s and 90s, he continued to create unforgettable portraits of artists such as Eurythmics, ABC, Duran Duran, The Jam, Wham! and Kim Wilde—images that have become an enduring part of music history.

We're revisiting South Korean artist Yokko Seongyoun's 14 Memories series.

Yokko's work is grounded in the Korean concept of in-yeon (인연), a subtle and enduring awareness of the unseen threads that connect people over time. Shot over the span of sixteen years, 14 Memories traces these lingering connections through a visual language shaped by the unique aesthetics of a wooden pinhole camera.

Horses by Sheila Rock

We recently took part in the first edition of “Paving Your Way in the Industry” (Photography Edition), organised by in collaboration with .nl!

The event brought together photographers, curators, and industry professionals for panel talks and a presentation led by Elliott Gallery on portfolio development, gallery relationships, and building a sustainable photography practice.

We closed the day with portfolio review sessions and enjoyed connecting with so many talented artists and their work!

Many thanks to Kunstmarkt Noord and Photo31 for having us! We are proud to have been part of it and looking forward to what’s next.

Sophia Loren on set, Spain, 1963 by Terence Donovan

Pioneering fashion photographer, Terence Donovan (1936-1996) photographed Italian actress Sophia Loren on the set of Spanish set of Anthony Mann’s film The Fall of the Roman Empire in May 1963 for Queen magazine.

Mick Jagger Laughing Wearing Fur Coat, 1964 by Eric Swayne

This limited edition print by iconic photographer of the ‘Swinging Sixties’, Eric Swayne, captures Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones wearing fur coat. A close friend of Jagger, Swayne photographed the rock legend on numerous occasions throughout the 1960s. In 1966, Jagger was originally cast to star in the short film G.G. Passion, directed by renowned photographer David Bailey and produced by Roman Polanski. When Jagger pulled out at the last minute, Swayne stepped in and took the lead acting role.

We would like to invite you to Drag Daughters, a powerful solo exhibition by Michelle Sank at Het Zuid-Afrikahuis in Amsterdam. ✨

Through striking portraits, Drag Daughters captures the vibrant drag community of Cape Town, celebrating resilience, visibility, individuality, and unapologetic self-expression in contemporary South Africa.

Michelle Sank grew up during apartheid as the child of immigrant parents, a background that continues to shape her exploration of subcultures and contemporary social issues. Internationally recognised for her portrait photography, her work has been exhibited worldwide and honored with awards.

Join us for a lecture and guided tour with the artist Michelle Sank, followed by a reception. The opening event will also be livestreamed on the Zuid-Afrikahuis website.

We’ve just opened the Second Edition of our Open Call Winners’ Exhibition at Elliott Gallery ✨

Featuring this year’s selected artists — Birte Kaufmann , Naïma El Kadi , and Olivier Tuinier — the show brings together three distinct photographic voices, each offering a unique way of seeing and engaging with the world.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a special opening night 🤍 We’re excited to keep the conversation going.
